It had been years since he had heard the sound of riding a chocobo through snow. Once upon a time, snow was not altogether too unfamiliar to him; snows every winter, he knew Coerthasโ biting cold, knew the wind against his face like knives, the crunch of snow underfoot.
And the last time he had been in Coerthas, he had be fleeing failure.
He rides silently behind Stephanivien and..Joye, was it? She had approached him once before and he knew he should have relocated after, he knew, but he had grown complacent. And now he had allowed Stephanivien to drag him home.
Home. It was a bittersweet thought; a part of him had yearned for home ever since he had left Coerthas. He didnโt know how anyone would take it; the failed and presumed dead former commander of Steel Vigil, returned from the grave, seeking passage back into the city of his birth. They should have little trouble passing into the city; Ishgard had opened itโs doors to outsiders so even should he not be recognized he should have little trouble entering. Chlodebaimt shivers and itโs nothing to do with the cold. Already, he was missing the safety of Charlot. Even as he clung to his home and his house, he had hidden who he was, and now he felt exposed. He could no longer hide who he was, not in the city of his birth, not when his family knew. Every fiber of his being was itching to turn around, turn and get his chocobo into a full run, wondering if he could get a far enough lead before Stephanivien and Joye noticed and gave chase. Wondered if he could outrun them.
Wondered if Steph would ever forgive him if he did.
Chlodebaimt heaves a sigh as the gates of judgement come into view. How ironically fitting knowing he would be judged the moment he set foot into the city, for better or worse. He curls in on himself just slightly more and prepares for the worst.
