3. rant. just do it

Okay so something that really pisses me off is when there’s a confrontation between two people and the person who was wronged continues to interact with the other people and borderline antagonize them? Like, I was looking through the Public Freakout subreddit today and there are so many people who get confronted by a racist person or whatever and then also call them names and argue with them?

Like??? What the fuck are they thinking? Continuing to argue with bigots is a futile effort. Telling them why they’re wrong isn’t going to work. Trying to get them to admit they’re wrong isn’t going to work. Insulting them isn’t going to work. All it will do is make them madder which will just escalate the situation further. And like, yeah, there’s some enjoyment in watching bigots get really pissed and lose control but also like....it’s not going to solve anything!

All continuing to antagonize bigots does is add fuel to the fire of 1) why they hate the people they’re bigoted against and 2) makes their victim complex even bigger. AND! It gives them a platform and a rallying point for OTHER bigots to find! It just makes all the divides in the country worse!

While I have sympathy for people who are attacked by bigots, I only have so much when they continue to goad the bigot in the first place. The ONLY solutions are to leave, shut up, or repeat the same non-insulting phrase over and over (the broken record method). It’s not an argument. Bigots want a reaction. The ONLY way to fight them without contributing to the cultural problems in this country are non-interaction.

And this also applies to internet arguments as well, because people will go on and on against a bigot. They’re not going to concede the point. It’s not a debate. Stop giving them a platform! If you feel you have to respond to them, do it ONCE and then move on.

Note: obviously, things can turn violent. Don’t fucking instigate the violence.

So many people are just fucking idiots when it comes to “shutting down” bigots or whatever the term is. The best shut down is non-interaction or deescalation.

11. what unusual talent do you have?

Honestly, I don’t think I have an unusual talents. The things that I’m good at are either common talents or skills that I have deliberately developed.

16. if you had to get a tattoo right now, what would you get and where?

The musical notation for the two main melodies of HTTYD played at the same time, tattooed on my left forearm (one of the cues I’m talking about is here.)

Fear of a Monster, and Blind Tears sound really cool! Well, they all do, but I really like those two. As for where you could try posting, I’m not sure. Another person I follow used their own website to host theirs and had a separate tumblr for news..
