Shit.

I had been so focused on the drinks that I hadn't noticed how loud the music was. My neighbors are going to hate me; forced to listen to Carol's old med school playlist through the walls, the one with all the rock and EDM mixed together that she'd made just for us.

I miss her. She'd know what to do about this whole situation.

Finding out that the straight friend you've been crushing on isn't actually straight is bizarre, for lack of a better word, and especially one year into the friendship. I spent that entire year hanging out with Ye-Jun believing he was off-limits, only to learn from the same girl who introduced us that it wasn't true and, to make things worse, that she had actually been trying to set us up that night.

Safe to say I’m feeling pretty stupid, and not knowing how to handle it, I’ve been drinking the mixed drinks I had planned to share with him when he arrived—both my share and his. Now I’m pretty drunk and running out of alcohol, but club drinks are so expensive anyway, so maybe it’s a good thing that I'm getting all my liquid courage at home for however tonight goes.

I apologize, laughing as I stumble over to the stereo, leaving the door open for him to come in. I turn it down to at least half, my head spinning a little.

Sometimes it's good to have another perspective while dealing with some of the shenanigans they have to visit. It had been a time just trying to navigate this whole together, when honestly Z had been prepared to leave a while ago.

It's not like this was hosted by a dear friend or anything. They mostly showed up as a favor for a good friend who they did at least have a chance to catch up with before turning their attention to Elva.

And they are following where she is pointing to get a good look.

"Sounds like a lovely view. What a great little dog there.." Following the other locations, Z nods in understanding.

"Guess there's always time for the potential for conflict at least.."

Asked about the party, Z shrugs.

"Damn it, damn it, oh GODDAMN IT! I'm gonna bring this whole block down WITH me! Maybe the entire TOWN!! And then your luck's finally gonna run out!"

A cruel hand closed into a fist. The way it sailed through the air was moderately fast, compensating for the lack of acceleration with the sheer strength of the arm. A bloodied grit of the teeth belonging to someone who would rather self-destruct haphazardly than be declared the loser.

*FWOOSH!*

Then, there was a thump. A great surge of wind like a colossal gust. But not in the explosive shockwave that had been expected. The fist had collided into an opposing hand, flown in from halfway across the globe to halt the mighty arm.

"Not if I can help it."

There's a headbutt from Rex. Then, his foe's free hand on his neck, Rex taking hold of the lowermost part of the thumb to try and loosen the grip. Holding this enemy in place. Trying to think of what his next move could be, where he could get free... but not at the expense of bystanders.

Of course she can fly. Of course.
