Temporary Takedown and Lighting Lesson
There has been a temporary takedown of items in my Zazzle store. It is true I was almost at 900 items, but I have had to remove a few of the items, just a few items in particular in which the main theme centered around feet posed in the grass, and those feet had a purple pedicure. The reason for the removal is because recently, I have noticed the pictures looked like the color was off, and I understand the reason why, so let this be a lesson to you amateur photographers who are thinking about stepping up your game. When taking outdoor pictures, the sky and light can tend to bounce off the subject you are photographing, which makes the time of day important to making great outdoor pictures stand out. At the time I took these pictures which was back in May 2012, afternoon was turning into dusk and the light was beginning to fade, which resulted in the subject's skin looking a little pale in color and the grass being dark. So, I have opted to remove the items with said pictures and am making some edits to those photos to bring out the natural color of the subject's skin tone. When the pictures get the right treatment, they will return to my Zazzle store.
The lesson here is about lighting and timing. I know it sometimes isn't easy to catch these color afflictions if you are working on a computer, but if the color does not look right to you when you take the original picture but you and your subject(s) are satisfied with the quality, do yourself a favor and go to post-production to edit the color of the picture, whether it's for skin tones, brightness, contrast, whatever. Believe me, you'll be glad you did. If you want your pictures to sell, the color needs to be right, the quality needs to be top-notch, and you want to find out who your target audience is
