Wolf Moon Rising | Open
Cali fiddled with her phone as she stood at the bus stop, debating whether or not to text Quentin. She had been adamant about not attending the Wolf Moon celebration when they had received the original invitation, sure that it was some kind of set up, and even if it wasn’t it was sure to be bad news. Who was this Farren guy anyway?
But now?
If peace was possible, blatantly ignoring an invitation wasn’t going to get them anywhere. Plus, she knew practically nothing about wolf legend. It would be cool to hear some stories, assuming no one died beforehand. She could check on JC.
She thumbed the seashell in her pocket. It was stupid, not much of anything at all let alone a gift, but it felt right. Like the call of the tide and resilience and something wonderful coming from a dark place. Self-consciousness at the sentiment struck again. This was ridiculous. She had no reason to go.Â
She had every reason to go.Â
The bus was taking forever, and she checked her slip of paper that she had written down the directions on. Forty-five minutes with just one bus transfer and a twenty-minute walk from the bus stop to the woods where Farren’s address was listed. Not so bad. The question was, did she go?
Flying Fur | Self - Vision
Wren stood beside her rig, ensuring all items were stocked. Gauze, syringes, gloves, IV fluids, and splints. Anything that needed to be restocked or changed over was her priority right now, making sure that she and Liam wouldn’t be left in a lurch when out working or picking up cases. Things were slow lately, and she had nothing to do. It was strange to be a town where there wasn’t calls regularly and she still couldn’t put her finger on it with regards to why.
Brushing the thought from her mind, Wren climbed into the back of the ambulance, checking the oxygen levels. Beginning to put all the supplies away, Wren hummed a tune lightly to herself. Things were right and she hadn’t had a vision in the few weeks they had been here. It had been reassuring, almost comforting to know that for now she could feel normal. As though by fate, as the mere thought of feeling normal passed through her mind, she felt the numbness and unsteady feeling that came. Without time to close the doors on the rig, Wren collapsed onto the gurney, her eyes glazing over as she was pulled into a vision.
Standing at the edge of clearing, somewhere near the outside of town, she could smell the crisp air. She could feel the wind on her skin and nature seemed to surround her with each move she made. In the distance an animal howled while another growled. It looked like the forests of Antioch but she had never been to them before - she didn’t know them at all. Not to far from where she stood, she saw bright blue eyes staring at her... no through her... to whatever was behind her. More growls erupted, howls surrounded her. Turning ever so slightly, Wren saw another now flying through the air, paws seeming to soar over her frame. A silent scream escaped her lips as she watched the bright blue eyes disappear, replaced with splashes of red blooming through the air. Warm creases splashed over the ground she stood upon, the steam seeming to surround her. The growl that came as things ended quickly, but a wolf did not remain in the spot but the body of a human. Â
Coming out of the trance, Wren felt her world spinning. Between the after affects and seeing what she had seen, her whole body felt like it was about to fall off the edge. Wolves that were humans? Where the hell had they moved to! Before she could even figure it out, she felt her stomach lurching into her mouth. Grabbing the nearby garbage pail, she wretched up her breakfast and coffee she had quickly scarfed down.Â
Staggering from the rig, she closed the doors and prayed that they didn’t get a call. Putting the small bag of garbage into the larger one by the door, she headed to the back room to lay down on a bunk. If Liam or any other EMT looked at her, they would see nothing but a ghost upon Wren’s complexion. She didn’t know where she was anymore, and she felt her body had been lurched into the air and dropped. “Where did I move my family to.” Collapsing against the bottom bunk she drifted off to sleep. It would be a while till she awoke no doubt.Â
You’re Invited,
It has been a long standing tradition for the Wolves of Antioch to come together on this night. Put aside their differences and just enjoy the full moon. In the past few years this tradition has fallen to the way side. I feel that now this celebration is needed more then before.
So I am opening my home to all of you. Waya or Lares, wolf or vampire, xcubi or nymph. All are welcome invited to celebrate the moon on January 24th.
The celebration its self will be marked with a huge bonfire. There will be food and drinks for all.
I hope to see all of you there.

During January, the full moon has always been celebrated, a way of commemorating the passage of the first month of winter. Traditionally, a bonfire would be lit in the woods, and wolves from all over would come together in peace and good will, bringing gifts for other packs to help each other get through the rest of winter.Â
As far as celebrations go, the Wolf Moon was usually a rather calm affair, for it was the one moon of the year where the wolf slept, and the human was closest to the surface. The werewolves would celebrate not only the passing winter, but the importance of their human sides, and harmony with their wolves. Each wolf was expected to bring a gift to exchange with a member of another pack, or any of the supernatural guests who came along to celebrate.Â
There hasn’t been a Wolf Moon celebration in Antioch in years, but this year is different. Both packs and many other supernaturals in the city received invitations in the mail to attend the Wolf Moon celebration, taking place an hour away in Virginia.Â
~It’ll be a full moon like no other~
The Wolf Moon will begin on Sunday, Jan. 25th at 12 pm EST. Please tag all relevant posts with #LifelinesWolfMoon.Â
