Just something I had to get out of my chest because idk who to tell and personally approaching my other friends to say this feels a lot harder and embarrassing to me.
But the thing is I almost...? probably...? unknowingly...? indirectly....? Got slutshamed by my own friend??? Rather my clothes I suppose. But she did say it.
Ok so for context and lore, me, my bestfriend, this friend and another friend were all out to celebrate my bestfriend's bday (which was the day before the day we were out)
Everything was fine and chill. But my this friend let's call her U. U was really insistent we all match clothes for the outing. Which was... Inconvenient. So it was decided we all weren't gonna match clothes. Because non of us were really keen on that idea. (Also i hate the whole idea of matching clothes. It sucks. Diversity is better).
But somehow my bestfriend (S) and U ended up wearing similar clothes. (Kurti and jeans/trousers β the ultimate βdesi baddieβ outfit which is mindless and lacks individuality)
Our other friend (T) had college that day and we met up after that (I also had college but I just skipped it, I'm still skipping college for no reasons but that's a conversation for later). T and I wore different clothes.
So me and S already met and were just roaming around on the road eating icecream and all (because honestly wdfc if it's biased we just wanted to spend some time alone with eachother) and it was all fine and sunshines.
We met up with U before we met with T who was, as I said returning from college. And U was really happy she and S ended up matching outfits, which is well good for her if that made her genuinely happy.
But as y'all probably would have guessed, she wasn't really happy about my outfit and kept saying how I looked different and why I was wearing what I was wearing (it was a denim skirt with a greenblackgolden patterned shirt and black high boots β might have been extra for a lunch date but well fuck everyone I wear what I want to wear and I'm always extra)
Which me and S took lightly because we thought she was just nagging about it cuz she wanted to match outfits and I didn't. Which is fine I understand, I probably wouldn't have said something similar if I was in her place. But I see her reaction as totally normal among friends. (Even S and I myself laughed at those cuz the teasings were actually funny)
It would have been fine if the situation ended just at that. But it didn't.
Sooo we met with T who didn't get much nagging for her outfit (now I know why) and we headed to the restaurant.
Cuts to us all in the restaurant, giggling and joking and taking pictures and trying to decide what we should order (it's a whole different chaos when you haven't met your friends in a really long time and y'all are a bunch if teenagers)
I do end up acting like a clown infront of my friends, the comic relief side character you may say (more on that in another post, and how this has ruined my social experience beyond repair)
So I ended up making a joke with S because she was silent and not responding to us (we had asked what she wanted to eat since it was her bday celebration after all)
Swallowing my embarrassment I'm typing out what the joke was (do keep in mind the joke and S's response suits out relationship. We are closest to eachother and have given eachother the liberty to joke)
Me: do you have a dick in your mouth that you can't speak?
T: how do you know that
S to me: oh yeah maybe she knows the feeling unlike us
....T_T it is embarrassing to say the joke again uhhh but yeah that's what it was
Back to story
But U's response is what surprised me and I quote what she said βoh yeah like clothes like behaviourβ (mind you neither S nor T were saying anything about my clothes or anything close to slutshaming me)
This put us all in a awkward silence for a moment, because genuinely I was really shocked. Me and U have been friends since we were 3yo and I had never known or thought of her to be the one to say something like that to me.
Which is also probably the reason I didn't exactly counter or call out her at that moment (my fault I should have said something). Because I was just too much in shock. I just ended up sharing a side glance with S. Before we all were back to being busy ordering food.
Nothing important had happened post that except we all came back from the restaurant. One thing, we ended up meeting our another friend β my ex guy bestfriend (we had a fallout and aren't the bestest friends anymore but we get along quite enough and he's still a close friend to S)
Post this we came back home (saying this cuz S came to my house for a bit to give my mom food and just to chill a little)
In all of this me and her had not once talked about what U said to me.
But we ended up talking about it that night on call. S (and exguybsf whom S told what happened) were genuinely pissed (more than me perhaps) because well who wouldn't be. I am too. But I'm more in shock. We both just hate U now.
We haven't mentioned anything to T yet cuz I genuinely don't know how you tell this whole situation to someone. Since this all had happened exactly 10 days ago.
I haven't had any contact with U after that day. And Neither does S. I probably won't be able to cut ties with her completely all at once. But I have started to slowly distance myself from her and well in some months we hopefully won't be friends anymore.
I was in shock and I was also pissed. Because I would have never expected U out of all people to say something like that to me. And maybe I will never even know why she said that. But I know enough about her views on things to not want to associate with her anymore.
(one more broken friendship to the list I suppose...)
That's what had happened and uhhh.... original experience ig...
