finished Life in Code by Ellen Ullman a bit ago, it's the one with that anecdote that's reblogged a lot about how a bunch of bro programmers she was working with accidentally reinvented eugenics, i thought it would be mostly autobiographical/anecdotal and was happily mistaken, extremely profound, she saw a lot of shit we're dealing with today coming 25+ years ago, i think she's brilliant, i borrowed it from my library and may shell out for a personal copy, i especially recommend "The Museum of Me" if you come across standalone essays

Okay I feel a little better I literally hate .Net right now and I asked a senior developer this question for .Net framework 4.7.1 how can I get the requested body/payload for a POST call to my service everyone is sooo obsessed with data contracts and WCF here it made him go uhh.. the payload? Idk why can't you put it in the url? I was like okay this is gonna be Gigs of data like or at the very least megs a 2083 character limitation ain't gonna fucking cut it and he and I went back and forth and he googled but he doesn't know and had to run to meeting and said he would help me after but sincerely, I feel better if a 50+ year-old developer who has done nothing but .Net his whole career can't do a basic payload on a Post call with a body of a string like "Hello, world.. I am a payload. wee" then fuck i am not the biggest moron on this planet at least and my question is at least puzzling enough he needs to look into it but also what kind of service layer definition solely runs in URI deifnitions why is that normal? why do we all use it? Is it just cause Microsoft made it, must follow Microsoft like little robotic figures all circling some big giant flame, yeah I am not super bought in haha
