I've seen some complains about the overlap of Pride month and SoKai week. I think some people are seeing it as an attempt at encroaching on their month, and I understand the frustration at such a thought, but I think it's misplaced. This seems like a miscommunication between two halves of a fandom, but I thought I'd let you know. Thank you!
Hello! Thanks for reaching out to us with your concerns!
The scheduling of SoKai Week during Pride Month was a very unfortunate coincidence. After the release of KH3, we are well aware of how high tensions are running in the fandom. We apologize for any hurt feelings, because that was never our intent. June was chosen because the fandom will be more engaged in June, as there may be a new announcement about the KH3 DLC soon at E3, and there are a number of KH Orchestra concerts. It was also chosen because many students will now be on summer break and have more time to create content. It was not meant to oppose Pride Month, and for future SoKai Weeks we will select a different time to avoid this issue arising again. Again, we cannot stress enough how much this is not meant as an attack on Pride, and we ask all participants to remember this and to be courteous and respectful.
For any of you who would like to show your support for Pride, you might consider donating to one of the following charities. They all have four star ratings on Charity Navigator, which means they have high financial accountability and transparency:
