A Quick History: Notes

OUTLINE: - Before Grenassus - The Reign of Grenassus - The Lawless Age (or the Age of the Empty Throne) - Current Events (the Bid for Leadership)
Begin with a joke.
Summarize period before Grenassus’ rule.
Read below: “Grenassus’ rule begins in the (search Glemig’s Guide to Scher Seffan for exact date). Grenassus is not considered much in terms of leadership. His temper was too hot to be a good king and too incompetent to be a bad one.” Strike out or soften that last bit if there are a couple nationalistic Naradarans in your class.
If the class isn’t interested, draw them in with the Lich Conspiracy. Ask if they think the theory is even viable, allow some debate to wake them up. If they are not willing to entertain it, mention Grenassus’ son.
“Grenassus did not pass on his dynasty because he had no heir to succeed the throne. Due to the lack of an heir apparent, the six houses arose and nearly threatened each other with war. However, unwilling to display strife (Scher Seffan has always been suspicious of its neighbors and their desire for its lands), they agreed to put off the issue of the next heir to the throne. They put it off for a very long time.”
Discuss the “Lawless Age,” or the Age of the Empty Throne, that is taking place during this time. Liadonians will not be happy with the term “Lawless Age,” so be careful.
Explain current events of the Bids for the Throne and relate how important this is to the class.
