“We’re in the middle of a thunderstorm and you wanna stop and feel the rain?” 

Ladybug found herself laughing at the sheer incredulity in her partner’s voice as she danced backwards into the downpour. “C’mon Chat, live a little!”

When she looked back, Chat was still standing under the overhang she’d left him in, wearing an expression that quite clearly said, but rain.

Cats would be as cats would be, she supposed, and closed her eyes as she tilted her head back, welcoming the fresh spring shower on her face.

There was something very settling about thunderstorms.

She stumbled back to where Chat was waiting when she’d finally had her fill, shaking out her hair and shivering pleasantly.

“Ready to g—” she started, and then looked up and found her breath stuttering to a halt in her chest.

He was just… looking at her, an awed little smile hovering over his lips.

For one long breathless moment, she was absolutely certain he was about to kiss her.

And then he coughed and glanced away, face falling into something a little more normal.

“Back to patrol?”

Ladybug took a moment to breathe away the disappointed ache in her chest.

my inner child loves the princess-rescues-her-knight thing from the end of s1. i fell so hard and so fast into shallura hell when that happened.

they carry wounds from what galra has done to them that havent healed yet and are trying to be resilient and fight back - i think they both realize that they are figuring out how to be a leader as they go along. they had to learn how to make decisions because there are things only they can do and everyone knows that (i love how they are both shown clueless about making choices in the first couple of eps, they grew side by side into capable commanders and its great). 

it just makes me feel good inside to see them relying on each other with so much trust, care, and respect between them. they hold each other up without even needing to mention it. they can’t risk falling apart because they are the leaders of the revolution and they shoulder the weight of the universe on their shoulders bc they’re responsible for its safety. being in their position isolates them slightly from the rest of the team because they can’t have moments where their resolve crumbles like the younger paladins do, because they need to be the strong ones there to reassure and support the family. (you can see how this takes a toll on them when when shiro waits until he is left alone with sendak to have his moment of weakness and how allura nearly got everyone killed when her father’s AI is corrupted. you can see how shiro is worried they are going down that path again when allura isn’t sleeping in s2)

action couples are always fun, it’s adorable to see two people who could fucking kill you be gentle with each other, but it’s pretty unique to find one where the guy gets to be the softie. allura’s a well-rounded character that has her shining moments of compassion too, but shiro is definitely given the most nurturing, sensitive scenes between the team. i’m just so glad allura found someone as strong as she is and just as broken, someone who trusts her to protect herself - and also sometimes him. and vice versa. 

the brutal part now - im obsessed with shallura but i dont even know if i want it to be canon? i’m almost always unsatisfied with romantic subplots in the shows i like so honestly i hope that canon shallura are just best friends and co-leaders until the end (a la max and furiosa). i’m just too worried about all the ways voltron can do me wrong when i love this ship so much.

Unfortunately, it seems destined to stay a running gag.
