Belle Gold, a kept woman by way of her husband’s decisions, grows restless of her life as a housewife and reclusive mother. She loves her newborn son more than anything, but her husband isn’t exactly the man she wished for her son’s father.

Needing to get out of the house just once, a simple evening out for herself, Belle leaves Dylan with his grandfather and ventures into the heart of Storybrooke. For reasons unknown to her, she’s drawn to the Rabbit Hole; a bar of the sorts Belle normally wouldn’t choose for herself. But who was she to argue with her own instincts?

Finn Brendan, owner and primary bartender of the Rabbit Hole, has known that something’s been missing from his life for as long as he can remember. The only problem is, no matter what he does, he can’t seem to figure out what that something is. Failed relationships and one-night-stands only reminding him of it.

The evenings blend together, the same patrons night after night, until one evening a new face enters his bar. Belle Gold isn’t a stranger to him-- everyone knows of the local pawnbroker’s wife-- but she’s far from even an acquaintance of his.

Soon enough, the pair find themselves partaking in an affair, Belle’s concerns for her son and her fear of her husband soothed by Finn’s assurances that he’d protect both her and little Dylan should they be found out.
