Arlenne Cassandra Westwood is a 18 year old girl from Manchester, England.
She’s an orphan, living alone with her mother. There’s nothing particularly special about Arlenne, she’s just an ordinary teenager with a pretty ordinary life.
One day, on her way to Petersburg High School, Arlenne receives a call on her phone. Her mother has been in a car accident and is now in the emergency room. Panicked, Arlenne rushes to the hospital, but she’s too late. She doesn’t even get the chance to see her mother one last time.
She buries her mother near their home. The very next day, debt collectors start calling. It turns out her mother left behind a large amount of debt now it’s all Arlenne’s responsibility. To survive, she starts working at a small café near her house.
Despite everything, Arlenne keeps trying to study whenever she can. But pushing herself too hard takes a toll on her body, she develops severe anemia. The stress piles up, and eventually, she falls into deep depression… to the point where she considers ending her own life.
Just as she’s about to do it, a man suddenly appears beside her and cuts the rope from her neck.
“You can’t do this,” he says. “You’re the one chosen to save us.”
Shocked and confused, Arlenne reacts on instinct and punches him. But something strange happens, white wings suddenly appear from his back.
“Why did you hit me?” the man asks.
Overwhelmed with fear and confusion, Arlenne faints.
Five hours later, she wakes up, thinking it was all just a dream.
But the man is still there, sitting beside her, smiling.
“Hello,” he says. “My name is Liam. I’m a guardian angel.”
He explains that his mission is to find “the chosen one” written in their sacred book, and that person is Arlenne. He tells her she must come with him to save their world.
Still confused and hesitant, Arlenne doesn’t respond.
Noticing her doubt, Liam adds,
“Maybe… you could even save your mother.”
Arlenne’s eyes widen.
“Really?! My mom can come back?!”
“…Yes,” Liam answers, uncertain.
That’s enough for her.
“Fine. I’ll do it. I’ll save your world as long as my mom comes back. I’ll do anything.”
Liam knows he’s making a promise he might not be able to keep… but it’s the only way she’ll come.
“Let’s go,” he says.
They travel into a dense forest, where a hidden portal lies.
Without hesitation, they step through it.
On the other side, Arlenne finds herself in a breathtaking world called "Terre Sainte", a blessed land filled with beauty. The architecture resembles ancient Rome, and even the people dress in similar styles.
She stares in awe, especially when she sees a Pegasus flying across the sky.
“This is our world,” Liam says. “Or… it was peaceful, before the Diablos attacked.”
Arlenne lowers her gaze.
“How am I supposed to save a world like this? I can’t even fix my own problems…”
Liam shakes his head.
“You do have power. It’s just sealed.”
She let out a small, disbelieving laugh.
“Sealed? That doesn’t make any sense.”
Liam hesitated for a moment, then said more carefully,
“…You’re not like most people.”
Arlenne immediately shook her head.
“Yeah, no. I’m pretty sure I am.”
Liam sighed softly.
“Your mom… she’s not just an ordinary human.”
Arlenne scoffed.
“Okay, now you’re just making stuff up.”
“She came from Terre Sainte,” Liam continued, still calm. “She chose to live as a human.”
Arlenne crossed her arms, clearly unconvinced.
“Right. And I’m supposed to just believe that?”
Liam didn’t push her.
“…You don’t have to. You’ll understand eventually.”
To unlock her power, they seek help from a powerful sorcerer named Kai who surprisingly looks very young, despite being over 4,500 years old.
Kai immediately begins the ritual.
As he chants in an unknown language, Arlenne feels intense pain in her chest. Her body trembles, her vision blurs, and she collapses.
She wakes up eight hours later.
Outside, she finds Liam training with Kai. As Liam spreads his wings, Arlenne can’t help but stare.
“They’re… beautiful,” she whispers.
Liam quickly turned away, pretending to focus on his training, but the faint redness on his cheeks gave him away. He wasn’t used to compliments, especially not from her.
For someone who had faced countless battles without fear, this… was something he didn’t quite know how to handle.
Kai, watching from the side, let out a quiet chuckle. He didn’t say anything but the look in his eyes made it obvious.
Young feelings were always the most transparent.
After training, Kai tells Arlenne she’s ready. Strong. Gifted. The chosen one.
But before they can celebrate, the sky suddenly darkens.
Kai steps outside and freezes.
Standing there is Hellion, the leader of the Diablos.
“It’s been a long time, Kai…” Hellion said, his voice calm yet filled with mockery.
Kai’s expression hardened instantly.
“Hellion… so you finally show yourself.”
Hellion let out a low laugh.
“Did you really think you could protect this world forever?”
Kai clenched his fists, magic beginning to gather around him.
“Even if it costs my life… I will stop you.”
Hellion smirked.
“You couldn’t stop me before. What makes you think you can now?”
Without warning, a brutal battle begins. Despite his strength, Kai is overwhelmed. Mortally wounded, he sends a telepathic message to Arlenne and Liam;
“Run… he’s too strong…”
But it’s too late.
Hellion kills him.
Liam and Arlenne arrive moments after.
Kai is gone.
Liam breaks down, crying. Arlenne hugs him, trying to comfort him, even though she’s shaking herself.
Then Hellion appears.
The sky darkened unnaturally as Hellion stepped forward, his presence alone enough to suffocate the air around them.
"You must be the chosen one,” he says, smirking at Arlenne.
Liam tightened his grip on his sword, stepping slightly in front of Arlenne.
“Stay behind me.”
Arlenne immediately shook her head, summoning her spear.
“No. We do this together.”
Hellion let out a low, amused laugh.
“How touching. Two fragile beings standing against me… do you really think that will change anything?”
Liam’s wings spread wide, glowing faintly.
“We don’t need to change everything.”
His voice was calm but firm.
“We just need to stop you.”
Without another word,
they attacked.
The clash was instant.
Arlenne lunged forward, her spear cutting through the air with surprising force. Liam followed right after, striking from the side with precise, calculated movements.
Hellion blocked both attacks effortlessly.
“Too slow.”
With a single motion, he pushed them back.
Arlenne slid across the ground, barely managing to steady herself.
Liam moved again faster this time.
Steel clashed against dark energy as he aimed directly for Hellion’s chest.
Hellion smirked.
“Better.”
He caught Liam’s blade with one hand, and crushed the force behind it.
Liam’s eyes widened slightly. in that brief moment
“Liam, move!” Arlenne shouted.
She charged in, driving her spear toward Hellion’s heart.
The impact, finally
made contact, A shallow wound.
Hellion looked down… then laughed.
“So this is the chosen one?”
Before Arlenne could react,
a blast of dark energy hit her directly.
Her body was thrown back violently, crashing into the ground.
“Arlenne!!”
Liam’s voice broke.
He rushed to her side, dropping to his knees.
“Hey, hey, stay with me"
No response, her breathing was weak.
Too weak.
Slowly, Liam stood up.
The air around him changed.
His wings flared wider, glowing brighter than before.
When he turned back to Hellion, his expression was no longer calm.
It was cold.
“Don't you ever dare touch her again!!"
Hellion tilted his head slightly.
“And what exactly are you going to do… alone?”
Liam didn’t answer, he just moved.
This time, he was faster.
Way more faster than before.
Every strike was sharper, heavier, more desperate.
Steel met darkness again and again, sparks and shadows tearing through the battlefield.
Hellion narrowed his eyes.
“Now this… is interesting.”
Liam didn’t stop.
Didn’t hesitate, didn’t hold back.
Even when Hellion’s attacks began to land cuts across his arm
blood at the corner of his lips, he kept going.
Because behind him, she was still there.
Unmoving.
“You’re burning yourself out,” Hellion said, almost amused.
“In this situation, you’ll die before you even touch me.”
Liam finally spoke, his voice low.
“Then I’ll end this.”
He lunged again, taking a direct hit to get closer
his blade slicing across Hellion’s side.
A deeper wound this time.
Hellion’s smile faded slightly.
“…So you are willing to die.”
Liam’s grip tightened.
For a moment, his gaze flickered.
Back to Arlenne,
Lying there.
Silent.
“…You don’t get it,” he said quietly.
Then louder "I’m not fighting to win.”
Hellion frowned slightly.
“I’m fighting”
Liam’s wings flared with blinding light
“to protect her.”
Hellion attacked.
Dark energy surged forward unstoppable
aimed straight past Liam, toward Arlenne.
Liam saw it.
And without hesitation, he moved.
He stepped in front of her.
Pulled her into his arms.
And took the hit, the impact tore through him.
Light shattered,
Silence fell.
Arlenne fights with everything she has but she’s no match. She’s struck down, lying helpless on the ground.
As her vision fades, she sees her mother.
“You must protect this world,” her mother says softly. “It’s your world too.”
She gives Arlenne a sacred ring one that can purify the Diablos.
As her mother held her, Arlenne felt something unfamiliar, warm, radiant, almost otherworldly. There was something different about her… something she had never noticed before.
“I wasn’t always from your world,” her mother said softly. “I was born in Terre Sainte… just like you.”
“You carry more than just your own fate,” her mother continued. “You carry mine… and the power of this world within you.”
Arlenne awakens stronger than before.
But Liam is already on the brink of death.
As Hellion prepares another attack, Liam shields Arlenne with his body.
“Why would you do that?!” she cries.
“If you’re casting a spell… the ring won’t protect you,” he says weakly.
In that moment, the ring glows.
The “sacrifice” needed to defeat Hellion… isn’t Arlenne.
It’s Liam.
His body fades into glowing particles.
“If there’s another life… I want to meet you again,” he whispers. “Not like this… just as someone who can stay by your side.”
Arlenne breaks down, screaming, begging him not to go.
But he’s gone.
With tears streaming down her face, Arlenne stands.
She seals Hellion’s power and drives her spear straight through his heart.
This time it works.
Hellion is destroyed.
After the battle, Arlenne is honored as a hero in Terre Sainte.
They offer her leadership but she refuses, She chooses to return to her world.
To live a normal life.
And for the first time in a long time,
To heal.
Though she still remembers Liam, but she finally lets go.
Arlenne smiles again.
