1)The Malachite butterfly was named after the mineral Malachite. The color of the mineral and the upper side of the butterfly’s wings are very similar in color, which is why the Malachite butterfly was named after the mineral. The wings themselves are also translucent, allowing light to filter through them! It is the coloration of this butterfly that helped me to select this butterfly for Liam in the first place!

The upper side of the butterfly’s wings are black and green, reflecting the hair and eye color of Liam’s s/o Zach! While the underside of the butterfly’s wings…that color combo just screams Liam! The brown reminds me of his hair and the olive green is reminiscent of his eye color and shirt color!

2) The Malachite butterfly is a bit of a scavenger. While they will consume flower nectar, they also routinely feed on animal carcasses, rotting fruit, and bat dung. The butterfly, then, seems to be a bit of an adaptable and relaxed creature, not being too picky or opinionated about their diets. This adaptable characteristic is one that Liam obviously has because when dealing with Zach…you better believe one must be adaptable!

3) This butterfly is very calm in temperament. The butterfly prefers to keep to itself. They spend many hours resting on leaves and eating, minding their own business and not engaging in any aggressive or territorial behaviors. So to me it just seems like the calm temperament of the Malachite reflects the sweet and kind nature of Liam!
