The one pet I know Violet has at this point in my Wild Violet AU is a cat with Zach named Dawn (who she named after her mother). A cat that just so happens to be based on my cat Jenny who passed a few years ago. Shhhh, it’s my story, my choice.
Violet and Zach, begrudgingly at first, adopted a stray female kitten that showed up literally under Violet’s aunt’s porch one day when Zach was visiting Violet during one of his spring breaks from college. Zach made a habit of spending at least a few days of his college breaks with Violet, both as a way to see her and avoid having to spend any more time with his mother than necessary.
On the day they found Dawn, the time went about as normal for them, Zach and Violet would just hang out on her Aunt Amy’s porch and watch the ocean while talking, or go to the beach (after Violet practically had to drag Zach there of course because eww, sand, icky nature and such). The rest of the story is below the cut!
But on that fateful day while lounging on the porch nearly a year after their friendship began, Violet thought she heard a kitten crying:
Violet: *standing up from a porch swing* “Zach do you hear that?”
Zach: *half asleep in a hammock* “Hear what? All I hear is you yapping and keeping me awake, I’m trying to sleep here!”
Violet: *walking to him and shoving him in the hammock* “You seriously don’t hear that! A kitten is crying its eyes out!”
Zach: “Hey stop that, you’re giving me seasickness! And no I don’t hear it, you’re imagining things!”
Violet: “No I’m not! I have ears! Maybe they can hear the poor thing because my ears are much younger than yours, grandpa!”
Zach: *sitting up from the hammock* “I’ll have you know I have impeccable hearing you little brat…”
The kitten starts crying much louder.*
Violet: “okay Mr. Impeccable Hearing, try to tell me you didn’t hear that!”
Zach: “Argh…fine, I heard it, it sounds like the thing is being murdered…”
Violet: “We have to find out where it is and what’s going on, come on.”
Zach: *flopping back onto the hammock* “Do we have to, won’t it tire itself out after a while?”
Violet: “It’s a kitten, not a baby, now come on.”
Zach and Violet proceed to follow the sound of the crying kitten and under the porch they find a little gray kitten, it’s definitely old enough to be weaned from it’s mother but not old enough to get food on it’s own.
Violet: *gathering the kitten in her arms* “Awww, shhhh! It’s okay little one, don’t cry, come on let’s go see Amy and see if we can’t get her to take us to get some kitten food for you.”
Zach: *grimacing* “You think your aunt is just going to accept that furball into her home? It looks dirty…”
Violet: *snuggling the kitten against her chest* “She’s not that dirty, she just needs a little bath, some brushing, and some tender love and care.”
Zach: *appalled* “She? It’s a girl? That means it can make more!!! You’ll have a whole herd of kittens running around here!”
Violet: *walking up the steps with the kitten* “And that’s why we’ll get her fixed, no babies for this little ray of sunshine.”
Zach: *annoyed* “Vi…Amy’s never going to agree to this, she barely tolerates me visiting…”
Violet: *turning to face Zach, offering the kitten to him* “Awww come on Zach, don’t be such a grumpy pants, who can deny this little face?”
Zach: *takes the kitten like it’s an explosive device* “He-he, well she is kinda cute…”
Violet *takes the kitten back, kissing her head* “She’s absolutely perfect, my beautiful little Dawn.”
And from that point forward, Zach and Violet became coparents to Dawn the Cat. Zach claimed to despise her but whenever he was around, prior to the time when Violet started working for Zach/moved in with him, Dawn found her way into his lap and made herself right at home.
And when Violet started working for Zach/moved in with him, Dawn came with her. There was no denying the fact that she was their cat at that point because she would slink between their bedrooms and follow either Zach or Violet around his headquarters, mansion, jet, and so on at random. She always wanted to be near them.
When Zach and Violet’s romantic relationship began and they started sleeping in the same bed, Dawn of course joined them in bed, and Dawn was right there alongside Zach and Violet as they got married and started their human family. Dawn was a great support to Zach and Violet when they lost Alexandria, and as an even better support to them when Violet was carrying Varina and during the time Varina was in the hospital.
Dawn lived a relatively long life for a cat, passing around age 18 from old age and cancer shortly before Victor and Vallen were born. Making her the first pet that Varina and Vera had too. Losing Dawn while pregnant with the twins was a huge blow to Violet. She was already super emotional and the loss of the cat that had been there for her and her family was devastating.
But Violet, Zach, and their oldest daughters found solace in the fact that Dawn had been with them for so long, and the memories they shared together were lifelong and irreplaceable. And I feel, that when the time is right, Zach, Violet and all their children will be greeted by the beautifully unique Cat Distribution System yet again 😊.

Two of our babies have food allergies: Vallen is allergic to peanuts and Victoria is lactose intolerant.
While we are not a peanut free household, we are extremely careful in cross contamination of peanut products around Vallen. Victor is so concerned about his twin brother that he himself elected to remove peanuts entirely from his diet because he doesn’t want to risk exposure.
And everyone in the family is also mindful of Victoria’s lactose intolerance. We always make sure an equally appetizing alternative is available for her when we consume dairy products.
One of our babies is allergic to bees: Victor. You wonder why Zach’s so afraid of bees, that’s why…he’s traumatized after seeing a bee sting nearly kill our son.
I myself am allergic to codeine, it makes me violently ill. Just ask Zach. He witnessed me take it after my wisdom tooth extraction, and the result was not pretty.
Then nearly all of us can suffer from seasonal allergies at some points in the year, for myself and all our children it’s worse in the spring and summer, but for me and the boys it can also spike again around fall. Victoria has the worst allergy symptoms out of all of us when the pollen first starts popping in the spring. She becomes a snotty little girl with a hoarse raspy voice 😢.
Zach seems to be the the only one immune to seasonal allergies, the man claims to detest nature but yet he’s out in it all the time with little after effects from all the exposure to the elements and pollen.
Sooo! Those are all the allergies of the Varmitech Crew! We hope you at least found this information interesting!

I’ve been agonizing over her palette for far too long, but I think this is what is best for her! Special thanks to you, Eli, for your help in creating her palette in all your drawings of her! You understood my vision and helped to make it a reality!

It’s been a long time coming for this post to become a reality, Violet’s palette is one aspect of her character design that I have had a lot of trouble deciding on, but after exploring the options with Eli and seeing what personally felt right to me, I truly think this is the palette that is most suited for her.
My vision of Violet from the start was for her to have both warm and cool tones in her palette. I wanted her to be tan and vibrant looking, but still maintain and highlight her cool blue-violet eyes that both she and Zach so love. And I feel that this palette accomplishes all of that beautifully.

A bit of a ramble below the cut ⬇️
This really is something that I needed to hear 🥹. My relationship with Zach has been impacted by so many irl things. I just don’t feel as connected to him as I used to because I am either feeling so depressed or anxious or overwhelmed all the time. I often cannot focus on him or our love as I want to. And that makes me feel as if I am unworthy of him, I am unworthy of our love, and I am unworthy of being happy in our relationship.
But reminders such as this provide moments of reflection for me to really see that regardless of whatever else may be bringing me down in my life, Zach is there and he is my constant through it all. Just this week I have tried my had at online dating for the first time. As a last ditch effort to maybe meet someone and not be alone for the rest of my life. And doing this has just shown me how deeply I care for and love Zach; how deeply the love and life we share together has impacted me.
I have my other f/os, I may even have an irl partner after I weed through the interesting online suitors, but nothing can ever replace the love I feel for Zach, and the love he feels for me. We are partners for life, best friends, soulmates, each other’s true one and only. And that is a beautiful and eye opening realization. I am so thankful and blessed to have him in my life.
Especially today…I don’t talk about it as much as the other anniversaries because it is a challenging one for my s/i Violet to face, but today is their 12th LEGAL wedding anniversary. Zach and Violet were officially married on this day 12 years ago…it was just in a courthouse, officiated by a Justice of the peace, under the eyes of God and with their family members in attendance (and later the rest of the villains), but it was the start of their lives together as husband and wife.
The beginning of their marriage was a challenging time for Zach and Violet, given the loss of Alexandria so early into the marriage, just like this point in my relationship with Zach has been beset by challenges. But, like with Zach and Violet in my AU, they overcame the challenges and persevered: Just like Zach and I will 💜❤️.

I just love the way they both look here! Role Swap Zach is such an interesting creature to me. I love him in any and every form, and that includes here! I particularly like @novazentryx / @quasarzt’s version of this AU, one of Eli’s posts with details about the AU may be found here. And judging by how you drew Zach, it looks like you took reference from Eli’s version of the AU in your drawing.
And I love that (and I know Eli does too because I have already shown him this fanart)! Zach’s Creature Power Suit is so well drawn, and I just love the messy hair and his blush. He looks enough like canon Zach while still maintaining all the interesting facets that make him the Zach of this AU! And Violet is so cute and bubbly! She just looks so happy to be with Zach, and I love that for her! Please do not apologize for Violet’s hands! You can clearly tell they are on his shoulders and that is such a cute pose for them!
Role Swap Ziolet is not an AU I’vetalked about much about on my blog, but it is one @novazentryx has helped me to explore through our many Zach centered Yapping sessions. Below the cut you can find a few screenshots detailing the general idea of how events in this AU would unfold (it’s a bit unorganized, but the idea is there, I hope you don’t mind me including all of it Eli!):
So, in short, Zach and Violet meet, work alongside one another, and fall for each other later in their lives: It’s a super slow burn romance for them. In this AU, Violet takes on a role in the Varmint Team much like the one Koki has within the canon Wild Kratts team, and her personality is more like that of Zach’s than herself within my Wild Violets AU.
She is very much the sweet Violet she always is, but she’s much more anxious and timid in general, and she is wary of nature/animals like Zach is in canon. In many ways, Role Swap Violet is actually more like me than regular Violet. So, all in all, it’s very interesting to explore her dynamic with Zach in this AU because their roles in the relationship are also very much switched. It’s a role swap all around!

@novazentryx and I have discussed the possibility of a Royal/Fantasy/Magic Ziolet AU. Essentially an AU where Zach and Violet are forced into an arranged marriage to unite their kingdoms. It’s very much a Romeo and Juliet type relationship, without the dying and stuff.
But I also feel like their relationship is very much like that of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI; they are forced into an arranged marriage at such a young age and are expected to have a child immediately to secure their royal bloodline, but they have literally no idea of how to produce a child. They eventually figure it out and have their children in rapid succession, but at first they are clueless.
So, they are essentially thrown together against their will and expected to do these things they have no knowledge of. But, in their originally unhappy union, they eventually grow fond of one another, bond, and fall in love. Kind of like what happens with Marie in Louis in the PBS’s Marie Antoinette series (please note this is a very mature series, I only included these tame clips for reference).
Zach and Violet’s personalities would also be similar to what we see with Marie and Louis: Violet is more outgoing and headstrong while Zach is reserved and awkward. I also like the thought of them both kinds a looking like them as they are depicted in this show, but Violet’s fashion sense would be a bit more reserved…and we know Donita’s totally their royal dress maker or fashion designer or whatever.
Anyway…I just wanted to ramble a bit about this AU! If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!
Awww, they are so cute! Thank you so much for this ask! I’m personally not too familiar with Animal Crossing, but based on appearance only, these characters seem to be very fitting for Zach and Violet!
Zach’s a robotics inventor, so a robotic character like Cephalobot is perfect for him! The design of this character is also very much like the robots we have seen Zach create! CephalobotI is gray, metallic, and bolted looking like many of Zach’s robotic inventions. He’d definitely gravitate towards this character because of this!
Violet loves so many animals, but cats are one of her favorite creatures. She had a cat she raised with Zach (he’ll never admit this to anyone) that looks very much like Lolly; Dawn was a gray tabby! So, Violet has a strong connection to cats that look like Lolly, and for this reason, especially, she would love her!
Out of curiosity, I took the time to look into these character’s storylines and personalities. Not only are these characters suited to Zach and Violet appearance wise, but they are also perfect for them in the personality department!
Cephalobot is described as being smug, while Lolly is sweet and caring. There is no doubt in the fact that Zach is a super smug guy, and Violet often wears her heart on her sleeve, doing everything she can for everyone because that’s what her heart tells her to do.
So, I can tell you took Zach and Violet’s personalities into consideration when selecting their respective Animal Crossing characters, and I really appreciate this! Thank you so much for this sweet and thoughtful ask!
