Stephen peeked outside, gazing around curiously at the scenery in front of him in search of his new guard. They (they being his mother) had decided that for some reason she should get rid of his previous guard and hire a new one. It was annoying, to say the least, though it was probably a smart thing to do for her sake because his old guard would let him do whatever he desired just as long as he paid him. Still, it was bad for Stephen and he could only wonder what the new one would be like. Hopefully they would be as easy to persuade, but just in case they weren’t, Stephen had decided that he would sneak out because who knew when he’d be able to again. So carefully, he closed his curtains before moving to his bed and messing it up, placing pillows underneath the sheets to resemble a body. He then grabbed his black jacket and went out the door to descend out the castle, hoping his usual paid servants would be on duty and would cover for him if his new guard eventually appeared.
