"They say it was a night just like this, near the end of summer and beginning of fall. A group of foolish teens gathered to play what they were told to be a very dangerous game.”
A swift click of his finger and the ceiling lights were out. Darkness pressed in, kept at bay only by the flickering candle in his hand. Yonghwa felt the poor victim in his arms shrink in fear and felt encouraged to continue with his story.
“Once they summoned the creature, it was time to run. The teens were giddy at first, the hint of fear in their hearts making this sleepover that much more exciting. They each held a candle, just like we are now. Stumbling about, they laughed at each other as they moved about the house, shrieking over each creak of the staircase and every harmless bump against the wall. All was well and good until the first candle went out.” He blew out their candle on cue and the room was instantly pitch black.
For the few seconds to follow, Yonghwa didn’t speak and instead, let the silence add to the tension in the air. When he finally found the story again, his voice was not above a whisper. “The boy who lost his light, following the rules of the game, tried to resurrect his flame immediately. His match struck against its box as his friends crowded around him and started a count down. Ten seconds, they all knew, was his time limit.”
Tick tick tick tick.
“The match lit, like hope it brightened the boy’s eyes. He brought the fire to his candle, yet it did not catch. He tried over and over again until the match went out. Then, a little frantic this time, another match was pulled out of the box, yet this one also failed in its sacred duty. The boy was so concentrated on his task that he did not notice that his friends were turning pale, their eyes on the shadow stretched behind him.”
Poor Kiyoung was trembling and Yonghwa patted his head gently in reassurance. He felt his friend attempting to pull away, to escape so he didn’t have to hear any more of this horror story. Yonghwa smiled, feeling a little more mischevious than usual as he only pulled his bestie closer, trapping the other against his chest.
“One by one the candles went out and the teenagers scrambled to find the container of salt so they could draw circles of protection. They were too young for proper planning and one salt shaker was fought between many. The first boy who had lost his candlelight crawled into a corner to hide, not wanting to be caught in the battle. He had always been the weakest, the softest and there was no point in participating in a fight he had no chance of winning.” Yes, Yonghwa even brought dorm c’s salt container in as prop for this and gave it a shake next to Kiyoung’s ears.
“So imagine his surprise when he somehow noticed, despite the darkness, that the salt shaker had escaped the fighting crowd and rolled towards him, landing precisely at his feet. The boy, unable to believe his good luck, drew his circle and called to his friends before rolling the shaker back towards the area of commotion. He sat in the circle as the rules had instructed, with his forehead against his knees to keep calm. He tried to not think about the consequences of being caught, how the rules had indicated that victims of the creature would have their organs- Kiyoung, are you crying?” Oh shit, he might have gone too far.
Yonghwa turned on the lights just in time to feel a punch against his gut. Okay, he deserved that one.
there are just two things wrong with that sentence. first, patience is something he unfortunately lacks. that's not a cool kid flex; it's just the truth. second, he's just a little over a month in and has successfully gotten off the wrong foot with more people than he can count. having someone here that he can safely call friend is nothing short of unexpected, if not just a tad bit bizarre.
but it is what it is. he stands there, milling outside the practice room with his arms folded across his chest, eyes downcast to count the decorative specks on each floor tile. a plot twist: he counts them in korean ( and feels like a dumbass first grader, but at least he's trying ).
he's on the 67th speck when a voice to his immediate right jostles him. correction---scares him shitless. and as any normal, frightened human would, he reacts on instinct.
unfortunately, his instinct tells him to hit the assailant, so that's precisely what he does.
"oh, shit."
what comes first: the blood trickling down from @lgckiyoung‘s nose, or the guilt he feels for kinda sorta really hitting someone he considers a friend? doesn't matter, because both happens, and now he has to deal with it.
"uh . . you good?"
yeah, he doesn't really know how to deal with these things.
Why is he so formal ㅋㅋ he looks like the arrogant type…? Is he seriously thinking he can debut as an idol with that personality? ㅋㅋㅋ
Beautiful voice but… I still have mixed feelings about him? Kiyoung-ah, fighting! Can’t wait to see more of you on stage!
if he debuts as an actor they’ll only have him play high schoolers ㅋㅋㅋ he looks freaking young but he’s twenty-two?! what does he eat... he’s adorable, like a cute bunny TT

do you feel like your outside appearance is a fair representation of the “real you”?
honesty hour | accepting
Typical Kiyoung, asking deep questions like these.
“To a degree, I think so. Most people describe me as an optimistic, caring and ‘soft’ individual. That’s the impression I give off and I stand by all of those characteristics. I do actually…enjoy smiling and thinking about life on the more positive side. Caring wise, yeah, I like making sure people are well-fed and safe. As for soft, I don’t think that’s a wrong assumption either since I am pretty non-confrontational. I am actually not great at arguing or fighting despite being tall and reasonably strong-looking. I’ve never won any of the fights I’ve been in because I lack the will to actually hurt people out of fear of consequences. Getting in confrontations, therefore, will likely result in my loss so I just avoid conflicts now.”
“I…obviously have my own problems that I don’t want to burden people with but we all got those, right? Can’t have my inner struggles write themselves all over my face. I think what people can’t gather from my appearance is how competitive I actually am. I know all of the good dancers in this company and think about how to stand out among them. I study their good traits and try to make them my own and learn from their mistakes so I don’t do the same.”
Hmm, what else.
“I mean, I’ve been trying to build that gentle princely image so I cut back on swearing and try to be extra polite. Remember back in high school I used to push past people to get that last sandwich and curse when someone else beat me to it? Yeah, I definitely won’t be seen doing that anymore. Being in Legacy made me trim back those edges.”
━━━ ♚ A DAY IN THE LIFE OF TSAI KING
VLIVE SOLO 001
it's around five in the morning when king records himself for the first time. he's sitting in his bed without any makeup on, only source of light the small lamp fixed to the wall next to his bed. "morning guys, welcome to a day in the life of legacy's tsai king." he says in a raspy voice, running a hand through his messy hair to try and tame them. "i can't speak loudly or the guys will kill me," he doesn't sound like he's kidding and quite frankly, he isn't. they would not hesitate to end his life right there if he robbed them from their last few minutes of peaceful sleep. "i always go for a run before training but i don't usually start my day this early," he explains, scooting over to sit on the edge of the bed. "i'm going to try something a little different for you guys. i know it's supposed to be a typical day in my life but we all need a little fantasy right? i'll tell you later though." he remains mysterious even if they might just laugh knowing what 'fantasy' he has planned. his roommates too, more than anyone. they'll definitely call him out on it. if it brings a good laugh to the viewers though, that's a plus. "i'll see you guys in a bit!"
he stops the recording and gets dressed in his training outfit, it would've been too tricky (not to mention boring without someone to take nice shots of him) and bumpy to film anything while running so he waits until he's halfway done and taking a break at the park he oftens goes with miso before picking the recording where he left off earlier. "i try to run for about fourty-five minutes every day. exercising does help keeping me healthy but it also clears my mind, i guess? it's become a habit over the years so i do my best not to skip. even if i'd rather sleep in most days," he adds with a short laugh. he's definitely not an early bird but since he's aspiring to a great modeling career, he can't afford to neglect his body. he talks for a bit about nothing and everything, mostly the type of physical training he does to maintain his current shape. since they only get ten minutes overall, he doesn't want to spend too much time on each segment.
when he records again he's back at the dorm, in the kitchen with the camera resting somewhere on the counter, elevated enough for people to see his full upper body properly. he's smiling and looking up something on his phone, which he promptly shows them. it's a kimbap recipe, explained step by step. "that was actually my secret plan for today. i never cook," king admits guiltily. "i'm not even sure if i can cook rice without surveillance, but it's almost done... i think?" it's that bad, yes. he's never the one doing the cooking and while the other boys would scold him if he did the same for cleaning duties, they'd rather not be poisoned at all.
all of his segments so far have been incredibly calculated. the morning, no makeup look that is sure to have fans talk about how naturally handsome he is. the post-exercise look that will certainly get the same type of reaction: look how fit and healthy he is, look how handsome he is even while sweating. and this last segment of him clumsily cooking, admitting he's not the best cook but still trying his best for the sake of the video. he knows fans will find it honest and cute. he's aware of all of this and intends to use it to its full extent.
once the rice is ready, he presents the result to the camera so fans can see. it's pretty decent, as he followed the instructions kiyoung once told him. he never thought it would come in handy, but here we are. "i might be better at this than i thought," king praises himself as if it's not the easiest thing in the world. with all of the ingredients ready on the counter, he can finally assemble and make the rolls. "if i ever try something more difficult i'll need assistance." just the idea of using a stove sounds risky. with the kimbap ready and looking good, he calls in the guys into the kitchen. they arrive, somewhat clueless and looking at king's creation like they're not sure what's happening. it just looks like a leftover from two days ago, nothing very impressive. king is beaming, though. "i cooked something! well, mainly i cooked rice... and i cut the rest. but look!" they don't look very excited at the sight, and one asks him jokingly if he did all of this just for the camera. "i already told them, it's fine!" and he turns the camera back on himself with the boys in the background, trying the kimbap and giving their appreciation (thought there's not much to appreciate). "mission accomplished." and he gives a small wink. "i'll see you guys later."
he picks up the camera twice more that day, once during dance practice where he just shows a sneak peak of a random choreography (nothing related to the show), and once for a last goodbye at the end of the day in the locker room, when he's about to go home.
