i think what we know as a peace sign, with the two fingers extended, would be like. a thing representing Mira and Aiene, the twin goddesses. It probably originated as a worship-y thing but then just kinda became common place to do

i think possibly the peace sign they’d use in world would be a square, because the four corners/sides can represent the four continents, and working together it makes a complete shape. so, similarly, i think the handsign would be similar with two fingers extended, but i think they’d be next to each other and curled in to see the nail because it kinda makes a square, and then if you were to pull your fingers into the palm of your hand, you get a fist (obvi lol), only possibly by having all your fingers work together, and could be like a “it makes the fist to fight for peace” type message idk. also, most species only have 4 fingers, so even just by having hands the message can be got across of “hey you cant fully use that correctly if youre missing a finger, and we can’t all fully work together if we don’t have peace” or something

king could be the eri dai equivalent to saying deity or maybe that was the name of the god of song, dance, and storytelling (before they got killed n had their powers stolen lmao) or their name was smth similar which over time evolved into king. i do want to justify king bc i rlly like the sound of “the moon king” n i dont wanna change it <333 i think the eri dai would say jobs instead of having smth like ms/mr. like mailman oscar or tailor maddocks.

i think the starflaki kinda just use names. like mosi doesnt call zezari some form of mom or dad its just zezari (or zari usually but shhhh). you dont call your teacher, well, that youre just like “good morning, nova!” although i can see the country that borders eri desir using job titles before names sometimes. theres a good chance its also JSUT the towns at the border and if you were to go just a little farther into the country, they aren’t doing that. i think the wolf folk specifically would have a specific word thats equivalent to chief and they exclusively call their chief that but thats the extent of it

qovetyn are a mix of the eri dai and starflaki i think! its by coincidence for the starflaki part though. i think they also used king until the moon king happened, and then i think they either adopted the title (someone being like im the new moon king since the other guy is gone) or had a very similar one (sun king or smth) and i think whatever very similar one they had probably got shortened into smth new (ie sun king becoming suka or smth). i think they sometimes will use jobs before names, depending on the area, and then other areas just use names bc why would you need to be called anything else

there’s probably more variation than just this but i think these are like. whats most common. like i think at midnafi i think they’d do [job] [seasonal honorific] [last name] (ie tailor aun bell)

ive also been tryna figure out some variation off niratap/the lunar dragon n elara june’s names being used for words like mom n dad bc the mortals couldve heard the gods referring to them with nicknames and been like “we can do that too” (ie ellie). i do think they’d still use mom and similar terms because the mm sound is easy for babies to make but ya know.

i think it would be interesting if at some areas of starflake, people had multiple names based off the tribes of their parents and eventually tribe names became last names. and like i think they’d introduce themselves with all of their names (because eidolon also can have more than 2 bio parents) and i think if you’re with family they’d use the name that correlates to their tribe right. so like mosi will always be mosi to zezari and that side of meir family and all lunabai, even if they aren’t directly related, and would always be cosmos to kasti and kasti’s side of the family and all astraa.

and i think you’d introduce yourself first with the name you want people to use! (if this isn’t someone you share a last name with who’ll use that name regardless of what you said first) and i think that’d be up to personal preference. i think there’s some cases where it’s like. if this part of your family is particularly respectable, you’d put that name first, or if you really dont like this part of your family and don’t particularly want to associate with them, you’d put that name last (but i don’t think you’d exclude it because you’re still part of that tribe)

popsocket and wolfy are both dimensi right. popsocket is from hyastar but wolfy is from an alternate universe’s apocalyptic earth. anyway the concept is where steven (wolfy pre two dimensions) doesnt get dimensi’d and instead of getting stuck, penelope (popsocket pre two dimensions) goes straight through. so now steven, who was already struggling to survive in a dog eat dog world, also has taken it upon himself to help this strange alien teen who doesnt even speak english survive. like penelope lived at sacred springs where yeah the woods are kind of dangerous but thats the woods specifically. this place is ALWAYS dangerous.

im posting them bc i want to talk about them but i dont feel like dming the bestie tm rn. uhhh most of them arent alive during syg and. i actually dont recall if cassian’s age is for during syg specifically or during the later syg story he appears in but uhhh he’s over 3000 know that much. anyway fun facts about these guys include

Lyrica Sol, Silas-Rowan and Cassian are all Hystaran, Mosaic is half Hystaran and half other species that belongs to an ex-friend, Elowen is an owl, Serenity is Eridai-Eidolon, Todenno/Toby is Eidolon, and Borlewen is Starglitz (which TECHNICALLY makes sar Eidolon but shhhh)

Lyrica Sol, Serenity, Elowen, and Mosaic are all repurposed (and to varying degrees redesigned) ship kids, and Mosaic is the only one whose Ship Kid Lore still stands. Todenno is ALSO a repurposed character design but ve wasn’t a ship kid

Elowen prefers, well, that over Morgana (even though they’re both her name!) because she has an aunt with that name too

Elowen and Borlewen are siblings! She calls sar ‘Starlester’ too, because it’s the name of a in-world video game character who so vaguely resembles and i mean really vaguely

Mosaic is a Dimensi! They’re originally from a completely alternate universe where Popsocket gets pushed back out of the space between dimensions into another world, and some time down the line has a kid, who fucks around with magic, fucks UP the magic, and winds up at Popsocket’s home world but in a different dimension so Popsocket is ALSO here although different looking. Like parent, like child, i guess. i could get into a whole ramble about Mosaic’s lore alone.

Cassian did not mean to get involved with this friendgroup! He goes through cycles, where he’ll get involved with certain people and hold a specific identity to hide the fact he’s the Oracle of the Hystaran Goddesses (which, he doesn’t have to do, but he chooses to) and eventually he leaves that life behind one way or another, disappears for a little while, and resurfaces as a new person. He met Mosaic and Lyrica Sol first, who then roped him into the friendgroup, and was like “yes i am uh Cassian. what’s my last name? uhhhhhh Hyacinth. Yes I too am 17” and eventually it gets revealed to them he is Not 17. and then he becomes like when a grandparent tells you wild shit from their childhood/young adult life because he has some fucking STORIES because he’s OVER 3000 YEARS OLD.

Lyrica Sol and Silas-Rowan are in love with each other. but neither of them acknowledge it. They’ll get affectionate with each other but they just won’t address it.

In my head there’s not a lot of Starflaki where this group all lives, so Toby and Borlewen are best friends because they’re like “well there’s not a lot of other people here like us.” and Serenity also hangs out with them sometimes given zhe’s half Eidolon but less so. Zhe hangs out with Lyrica Sol and Mosaic more, if not with the whole group. But all three of them would get stoked if another Starflaki moved to town, especially if said Starflaki was their age.

They’ve got a tree house they all hangout in!! I imagine they found an old tree house that was kinda falling apart and they rebuilt it and added onto it. It’s probably decently big for a tree house, but they aren’t usually all there so it’s fine.
