This purpleish brown and golden cloak was first worn by Ayşe Sultan in the second episode of the second season of Magnificent Century: Kösem.

After episode 1, I think they are not the same person. Gulbahar is clearly Mehmed’s concubine and we know she is exiled.

As for Leyla, Murad’s concubine, and her secret... Now I think she may be a stand-in for Hatice Halime, mother of little Ahmed  (perhaps there is a change in name because there may be some doubts whether she was also a mother of Mehmed’s youngest and only surviving brother, see my earlier posts). Her secret may be the very existence of Murad’s youngest son... because no one even mentions the existence of yet another prince that is moreover so young he could be used by the pashas as a tool to establish a regent and have all the power in their hands... As such, on the show the only alternative presented to Mehmed is Orhan, and he has some Byzantine ties. If Leyla’s secret is to shake up the Ottoman Empire, well the existence of yet another prince definitely can be it. And if Ahmed is to be used by the pashas in their game, it could explain why Mehmed will decide to kill the little child...

Since Ishak Pasha (to whom Mehmed will marry his stepmom) is anti-Mehmed on the show, maybe the two will later be involved in more anti-Mehmed (for the woman also revenge) plots?

But it is pure speculation at this moment.

We are as puzzled as all of you are. Sedef was first said to play Gülbahar Hatun. Later, it was reported her character’s name is Leyla Hatun and that she’s Murad’s concubine with a secret. Most recent info maintains her name is Leyla and states that she’s Bayezid’s mother.

We don’t know what to make of this. As for the name thing, she may be simply renamed or have two names. The other issue... perhaps there was a mistake and they wanted to state that she was Mehmed’s concubine? We really don’t know.

Personally, we do hope they won’t introduce the drama of Mehmed impregnating his father’s concubine. Honestly, all these pieces of information about Sedef’s character worry us all most at the moment as far as the show is concerned. We strongly hope “Murad’s concubine” part of her introduction is a mistake.

But we can only wait patiently for answers.

If they provide us with some new information about the issue, we will of course share it on the blog asap :)
