Supercorp Test Kitchen AU, some differences
Kara is into custom snapbacks rather than beanies. After a while, fans mail in hats they think she'll like, and she starts wearing those on the air.
Things get awkward when she rocks up with a beanie emblazoned with "Luthor" stylized like a college logo. She's insanely pleased with herself, thinking she'll be all cute and winning brownie points with Lena, except Lena is still filming incognito and just pegs her with the "I'm trying to communicate telepathically" wide-eyed stare.
Unfortunately, Kara is just confused. She thought Lena would like it!
"Trying to suck up to the boss there, Danvers?" Alex swoops in to save the day. "You should poke your head in upstairs so she can see it."
Ahhhhh... ding ding ding! Kara finally gets it, and flushes madly.
"Right. I'll just... go do that," she stammers, and disappears.
Lena just stands there quietly until Alex prods her to continue.
By the time Lena delivers her "Here's how you make gourmet __________" line, the Luthor cap is perched loftily on her head.
No explanation is given.
And I've decided that Lex exists as a good guy in this verse *just* so I can have a scene of him watching the episode and then sending his sister a video of himself just losing his shit over the entire fiasco. He's wheezing with laughter by the time Lena wears it-- he can't even speak he's laughing so hard.
Lena digs it. Both his reaction and the hat.
