#MovieoftheDay: The Enchanted Forest (1945) Movies I Want to See: 40/50 Old John (Harry Davenport) lives in the forest and maintains a harmonious relationship with flora and fauna alike. He is also raising a lost child he found, Jackie (William Severn), not knowing that Jackie's mother Anne (Brenda Joyce) is alive and holding out hope that she may yet find her child. Meanwhile, Old John must tangle with a logger (Edmund Lowe) who wants to harvest the forest, but in the end the forest is saved, mother and child are reunited, and Old John is allowed to live in the forest in peace. The poverty row PRC studio would hardly seem the likeliest place for a color family film to originate, but so it did, the result being a sizable success and, apparently, a fairly sweet and charming little film which holds up better than you'd think.
