It has been 2 months after Eren’s death, the world was quiet but it was loud with grief from the outcome of The Rumbling. Paradis Island laid bare, walls didn’t exists anymore as they were safe from man-eating Titans. Damages were great but they all worked together to set things right, despite Mikasa’s and Armin’s hard work to distract themselves from the death of a dear friend- they couldn’t help but feel a heavy weight in their chest.

Y/n sat on the window sill of her room, looking down at the busy street of Shingashina District. The sky has started to ripple with the mixture of autumn and blood. It still looked beautiful, but she started to wander about Levi. She hasn’t seen him since the war, he has been holed up in his room.

Not that he’s not allowed to go out, he chose not to see y/n. The only person who goes in and out of his room was Armin and seldomly- Mikasa and Pieck. Y/n has always tried to meet him but he refuses to, not picking out why.

She didn’t liked this of course, who wouldn’t want to spend their life with the person they love? Especially now that they can rest.

Y/n shifted on her seat, her leg started to tap up and down with the uneasiness and anxiety she’s feeling. She really wanted to see him, she wanted to touch him again and lay on the same bed with him like they did so rarely before.

Her chest began to tighten, tears started to form on the corner of her eyes. She hastily wiped them off with the sleeve of her shirt, leaving a wet stain. She started to overthink what she did wrong that might’ve set him off or even the thought of him falling out of love already made it hard to breathe for her.

Down on the street, she saw Niccolo holding a bouquet of white roses as he made his way to the cemetery. This is the 3rd time she saw Niccolo has done such a thing, which reminds her that she hasn’t even visited Sasha’s grave. She couldn’t bear the loss of a precious friend, it hurt to see Sasha’s grave.

Y/n made up her mind to join Niccolo, this might even help her take the thought off of Levi. She placed both of her bare feet flat on the wooden floor and sat on the bed to put on some socks and her boots, she grabbed her coat and went for the door. Y/n took a deep breath to ease her nerves, then she opened the door only to get taken aback at the presence of Levi infront of her.

He really did seem different; scars appeared proudly on the right side of his face and his right eye blind with white like a fog. Despite these, he still look utterly handsome. His cold expression was still unreadable to y/n, but that didn’t matter.

He’s here.

“Levi...” his name slips off of her mouth in a breathless sigh.

Levi didn’t say a word but moved forward while he gently pushed her back in to her room, that’s when she noticed a cold feeling on her hand. His metal fingers made contact cooly on her warm flesh.

He closed the door behind him, looking down at the floor instead as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. He’s not like this, the Levi she knew was confident but a humble man. Now, he looks broken and sort of... afraid.

Y/n’s lips trembled, dropping the coat on her hand and immediately jumped on Levi, securing her arms around his back and buried her face on his chest. Taking all of him in as if he was gonna disappear any moment.

Levi noticed her shoulders shaking, listening to her softly sobbing. He couldn’t help but feel the guilt and longing of not seeing her from all those months. He didn’t want her to see him being all scarred and beaten, he didn’t want her to see him weak.

From those couple of months, Armin instead helped him in making his prosthetic fingers. With Armin’s intelligence and Marley’s advanced technology, he was able to come up with the perfect fit.

Every day and night, he’d always thought about y/n. Never a day passes by of not missing her, despite the overwhelming emotions. He still held his expressions back in front of everyone who visited him, they always knew him as the stoic and strict captain.

Levi hesitated to hug her back, her sweet scent immediately engulfed him. He missed this.

Finally encircling his arms around her waist and leaning into her touch, he shared what he felt from her loss of presence.

“You’re not... disgusted by me?” Levi finally says, his other hand started to stroke her soft hair.

“You jackass think that’s gonna make a difference?” Y/n pulls away from his chest to look at him, her glaring glossy eyes and tear stained cheeks made him taken aback.

“That’s the first time you called me that,” Levi huffs, the corner of his mouth pulled into a small smile.

Y/n shook her head, trying to hold back her crying fit.

“Why didn’t you let me see you? Did you know how much I missed you?” Y/n avoided his gaze, starting to get embarrassed after she saw the spot of her years on his soaked white shirt, knowing that he was quite the neat freak.

However, Levi didn’t mind at all. He was too focused on lovely y/n in his arms. Despite her crying fit- she still looked adorable.

“I’m sorry… with everything that has happened... all the countless loss I’ve went through- I couldn’t let you see me like that.”

“However… after not seeing you for months..” his steel fingers brushed her faint red cheek, softly making her look at him.

“I wanna see every detail of you. If you want, I would try to spend my time being with you, I will bare everything to you. Every step of the way… to our future.” He stroked her cheek, letting himself break apart in front of her.

Warmth started to spread all over y/n, it was all over the place. She did her best to contain it, not to overwhelm him. He was finally opening up to her, letting her see his nakedness.

“Captain, are you proposing to me?” Y/n teasingly grins.

Levi made an expression as if he was in deep thought and flicked her forehead.

“Nonsense, you brat” he softly smiles, placing his lips on her forehead. Enveloping her in his arms again, both finally feeling the peace they’ve been needing.
