Idk, for whatever reason it came up in my mind, and I don't have any scenarios really, it's just. The dynamic. I love their dynamic. They would be such a slow burn and calm couple. Quietly loving, with obvious support.

Like the knight one is self-explanatory. The absolute loyalty and the need to take care of one another. The protectiveness, the unending worry. "Will it be today, that I lose you? That I have to watch you sacrifice yourself for me, because it's your job?" And the "It's not just a job. It's you. I would do anything for you."

The arranged marriage is slow. They are strangers, they don't know each other, but this is what they gotta do, so this is what they do. Their opinion on the matter doesn't matter, they aren't trying to make each other miserable. A quiet compromise, that even if they don't love each other, hell, maybe they don't even like each other, they won't cause problems, not on purpose (unless it's a spy thing but that's a whole another matter. Sexy tho). Maybe even support one another, depending. Learning about the other, what they do and how they do things, what they say and what they don't, how they treat those around them. Creating a tentative camaraderie, building up on that, and slowly wanting more. Yearning for things unsaid, to see what they don't show for anyone else. To be someone they can let their guard down with, someone they can rely on. And still, they would realise it's not enough, it's still not enough, they want—... but they won't take. Never take, to not break their trust, but working towards their goal, to solidify that trust, to broaden it, deepen it. Doing things for them willingly, because they want to see the other smile, not because it's something that almost feels required.

Anyway, 4am here, I'm babbling.

Since when I first thought about it, it wasn’t supposed to be Levi x Jiang Cheng (and anyone can guess the original pair if they look at my ao3 works lmao), but obviously I've grown to love them so I wanna make some changes so the story is more about them and not just running through things.
