Just as soon as Serah’s feet hit the grass surrounding the lighthouse, she could hear the sound of sparring tributes as close as a few feet away. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see the moonlight hitting the token in a way that reminded her of the shine of a victor’s crown. A crown she was determined to hold on her head.  With her war club and taser in hand, Serah wasn’t surprised in the slightest when Levi crossed in front of her, only momentarily cutting the token out of her view. All of the tributes were flocking to it, their shadows shooting through the night alongside him. Levi was instantly worried that Starling wouldn’t be safe, he was already nervous that his visions of her were slightly faded and he feared insanity. The silver glint on the ground beckoned him and as he ran for it he hit the ground hard as he felt a club knock him to the side. He hit the ground hard and twisted back to see his attacker. As Serah tries to pass him, he swung at her leg with his bat and knocked her down too.
“Long time no see,” she said with a smirk, not exactly ready to play around. That token was hers and she was determined to get it. Serah was sure that Levi made some sort of joking response, but she was already too far into her game plan. Right now there was no time for playing around with words and insults, Levi was an obstacle that she needed to get over but she was going to have fun with it. Levi hated the idea of hurting her but he knew he needed to do it to save Starling’s life. Both of them scrambled to their feet before running back toward the coin. Levi reached forward, grabbing the handle of Serah’s pack on her back and jerking her back toward him, trying to throw her behind him. He needed that coin for Star, to keep her safe. Serah drew a taser and drove it to his back, sending him crashing to the ground, twitching.
He shakily stood again and dove after her. Serah’s hand was wildly groping for the coin in the dark grass when she felt a smash of a bat into her back and she crumpled, letting out a yell. Levi bashed the bat into her again, crushing her ribs like Ara had broken his. But Serah could still move, albeit painfully, and she wouldn’t give up on finding that coin- and taking down Levi at the same time. Gripping her war club until her knuckles turned white, Serah was prepared to take all of her anger out on the small blonde boy now lying in the grass. She balanced the war club on his chest, pushing down just enough to elicit a cry of pain in response to the pressure on his already broken ribs. He looked frantically over at where he imagined Starling and Serah followed his view, but as she saw nothing, took the chance and thrust her taser toward him.
Levi rolled away, as if he’d been warned of the attack, and looked back over. “Thanks love,” he called to the side and Serah’s brow furrowed slightly in confusion. Levi took a swing at the girl with his baseball bat and she rolled to the side, groaning as she rolled over onto her already existing injury. Levi beat at her other side, trying to bash her head in but she was just too quick, too onto him.
“Love is a weakness, Levi. It always will be.” Serah stated simply. Swinging the bat up, it collided with Serah’s knee and caused her left leg to give out under her weight. “You bitch!” Serah yelled out, pain creeping into her voice. Finally Levi made a connection with her shoulder and shoved her over, kneeling over her much like Ara had done to him. She reached for him with the taser again but he blocked the hit with his wooden bat, cutting off the electricity and using the swing to knock the weapon from her tight grasp. “Don’t look, Starling!” He said loudly and Serah looked up at him, confused.
“She’s dead, you idiot!” She snapped, writhing underneath Levi’s seated position, his legs holding her arms down. He glared at her, his mind set on what he did now. “She’s not!” He roared. “She’s right there!” The look in his eyes was manic and terrifying, his eyes darting about as he reached for the side pouch and his water bottle.
Serah continued to struggle and Levi sent a left hook into her jaw, shutting her up and causing some blood to fill her mouth from him driving her teeth into her tongue with the punch. He’d nearly broken it, her mouth slightly opened with the scream of pain. He took the opportunity and gripped water bottle in his shaking hands. Levi unscrewed it, shoving the end of it into her bleeding mouth as she screamed. Squeezing tight, Levi forced the water down Serah’s esophagus, the sheer force of the water all rushing down at once causing her to panic, breathing it and beginning to drown. Her breathing shook and her focus was on being able to retain air, but all there was to breathe was water.
Her eyes rolled back into her head from the lack of oxygen and Levi grimly raised the bat, bringing it down hard into her skull. Her cannon fired and he stepped off her body grimly, reaching about a foot to the side of her and taking the coin in his hand, squeezing it. He looked over to the blank space again and set his jaw. “I promised I’d keep you safe,” he said, a little smile coming over his face as he gathered Serah’s supplies and gripped his coin safe and tightly, immediately retreating from the remaining carnage and aiming to head back southwest, toward the only safety he knew of.
Hand in hand, Ara and Blair raced towards the exit.  They knew the pops had gone out that way, but they didn’t see them as much of an obstacle at the moment.  Their biggest problem was the alliance that had reached the door at the same time as them.  Blair eyed the couple.  Levi and Starling.  Were they together?  Blair felt bile creep up the back of her throat at the thought. Levi and Starling stopped dead in their tracks as Arabella and Blair nearly crashed through the door at the same time. Arabella paused, blocking the pair from entering the frame while Blair flanked her, snickering. “Little lovebirds wanna get out?” Ara cooed, cracking her whip as Starling flinched toward Levi. He gripped her hand tight, narrowing a glare at the girls.
“Just move it,” he snapped. “We don’t have all day.” Levi didn’t want a confrontation. But the way Blair pointed the dagger at them made it very apparent that they did.
She smiled, narrowing in on the girl, knowing Ara would take on Levi.  She pushed the girls shoulder as she looked nervous.  “What’s wrong?”  She cooed.  “Scared?”  She grinned.  “You should be.”  She got closer.  She could see a crossbow sticking out from her pack, but she doubted the girl knew how to use it, or actually would.  Her eyes were puffy like she had been sobbing.  This was going to be easy.
Blair inched closer and closer to the girl who kept backing up, a look of pure terror on her face.  Finally she hit the wall, and Blair wrapped her hand around the girl’s neck.  She held the blade of the dagger against Starling’s stomach, whispering softly against her face.
“I can make this quick, or…a little painful.”  She said with an evil grin.  Starling began to fumble with the backpack behind her, Blair figured it was just panic.  She squeezed harder and harder on her neck and Starling’s face became a bright shade of red.  Finally, she found what she was looking for, a swiss army knife.  She flicked it open and shoved the blade into Blair’s shoulder.  She screamed in pain, releasing her grip on Starling who gasped for air.
“You bitch!”  Blair screamed.  “You’re going to pay for that!”  She yelled, holding her wound.  She gripped the handle of her dagger, slashing it in Starling’s direction.  The blade sliced open her arm which was still clutching her neck.  She cried out which grabbed Levi’s attention.  Fortunately, Blair didn’t need to worry about him.
Arabella smiled slyly at the boy in front of her. She never understood why he was liked by others nor did she she believe he was in any way funny. Slowly the boy began to back up, until his back hit the wall. Ara’s grip on her whip tightened, as she slowly walked towards her victim. She raised her weapon and quickly smacked it across Levi’s face—leaving thin red lines across his cheek. The small smile on her face grew wider as a small tear rolled off his cheek. Arabella narrowed her eyes on the baseball bat in his hands, his grip getting tighter after she smacked him. “That’s all you got? A baseball bat? They must not like you enough to give you such a pathetic weapon..” She snickered and in return Levi raised the baseball bat and forcefully swung it into her right thigh.
“Shut up you bitch!” He spat; the pain vibrated through her leg, quickly, Levi found his golden opportunity. He lunged at Ara, pushing her to the cement flooring. His hand held onto her wrists above her head as his body weight pushed onto her chest. He looked down at her and smiled. “I don’t like you or your friend, so my girlfriend and I are ready to kill the both of you.” He looked over his shoulder to see Starling and noticed Blair stab her in the arm. “Starling!” He yelled, giving enough time for Ara to push him off. Arabella lifted her head and smashed it into his chest, he gasped for air, momentarily losing his grip on her wrists. Quickly, she dug her nails deep into his own wrists, waiting for the blood to surface.  She pushed her body towards his, making him topple backwards.
While she was on top, Ara forced her knees into his arms to hold them in place, while her body weight pushed onto his chest. “It’s my turn to have a little fun.” She smiled as she began to rummage through her bag, pulling out the two throwing knives. She watched as his lower lip tremble in fear, his eyes fixated on the knives in Arabella’s hand.
Starling and Blair were both bleeding, and both equipped with a blade.  Blair glared at the girl who had tears in her eyes.  Blair lifted her leg, kicking Starling back against the wall.  She wailed as her spine hit the hard cement.  Blair dug the knife into her chest, dragging it towards her shoulder.  Starling cried out for Levi, who was unable to get Ara off of him.  She lashed her knife forward, clipping Blair’s jaw and blood ran down her neck.  Blair growled, lifting her knee into the girls stomach.  She bent forward and Blair brought her face down on her knee, breaking her nose.  Starling collapsed on the ground and Blair laughed, kneeling down next to her. Â
“Giving up already?  Come on…you can do better than that.”  She teased, lightly dragging her dagger down the girl’s arm.  Suddenly, Starling flipped over, knocking the dagger right out of Blair’s hand and tackling her.  She put her hands on Blair’s collarbone, pinning her to the ground.
“You’re right”  She said, her voice shaky as her tears mixed with the blood draining from her nose.  Blair thrashed underneath her, grabbing Starling’s wrists and trying to pry them off.  Her hands slid closer to Blair’s neck, and her fingers enclosed her throat.  “I’m not going yet.”  She muttered through clenched teeth.  Blair threw her fists into the sides of Starling, trying to knock her off.  She gagged, not able to get in any air.  She reached out for her dagger.  It was barely an inch away from her grasp.  She extended her fingers as far as they could go.  Her eyes grew wide as her body went weak from the lack of oxygen.  Finally, she felt the cool metal of her dagger and wrapped her fingers around it.  She brought it up and plunged it into Starling’s stomach.  Starling screamed, falling over and Blair coughed, catching her breath.  Starling held her stomach, blood gushing out.  Blair sat up, looking over at the dying girl.  She put her hand on Starling’s chest.
“Sorry.”  She barely whispered, before sliding her dagger across Starling’s throat.  After a few seconds, her cannon boomed, and Levi screamed for his ally.
Meanwhile, Arabella laughed at the sudden cries from Starling, she looked back at Levi and grinned. “It sounds like she’s in pain, and you can’t save her.” She sighed, bringing one of the knives closer to his face. His eyes widened, she let the cold metal touch his cheek. Thin small drops of blood began to surface. “What to do, what to do.” She dug the knife a little deeper into his skin as she thought of a way to torture the boy. She dragged the knife in his skin to spell out her initials, A.L. “Now you can always remember who tortured you.” She smiled weakly as she pulled the weapon out.
“Enough.”  Blair said quietly as she stood.  Quickly Ara’s hands let go of the knife as she looked over at her ally. She was covered in blood, but luckily she was alive. Arabella let out a sigh of relief. Her eyes matched Blair’s, “Are you ready to leave?” She smiled. Ara lifted herself off his body, she grabbed her whip and walked over to her ally. “I don’t think he will get up, but just in case..” She turned around and sent a kick towards his ribs, she heard the familiar sound of bones snapping. Arabella walked over towards the door and pushed it open, turning around to face Blair, “Grab her pack and let’s go.”
Blair nodded, pulling Starling’s pack off her back, leaving Levi bleeding and unconscious on the ground.  She swung the pack on her back and together, they booked it out of the prison and into whatever was on the other side.
