leverage redemption: part two review
(which this is a review and even tho there are negative things in the review, it still belongs in the tag because it's not mindless hate)
so I watched it when it came out and I did like it more than the first half but it still was disapointing to watch some episodes
I liked the flashback episode the most and I liked Breanna's little love story in the train episode
I liked hardison coming back (although still confused how he couldn't at least tell the team harry had a plan but whatever)
Breanna and Harry continue to be the highlight of the show to me!! I think because they didn't have any expectations to live up to, I could enjoy them more.
Breanna is the zillenial rep I've been waiting for!! her beliefs, how competent she is, her personal and professional growth . . .. her cute little love story!!
and I genuinely find Harry hilarious and I like his whole arc and how it ended
I've realized an major issue I have is the cheesiness of the villains. they feel cartoonish. I can't help but laugh at how ridiculous they are.
and I genuinely think the writing is bad
I've already listed all my problems with parker so I won't get into that here
eliot also feels . . . wrong. like he is undermined and we keep trying to explore his emotional depth but it lacks the complexity that is desperately needed for these storylines
I also hate when they do callbacks to the original series, they feel like they are changing and undermining what was once established but that's just me I guess
ummmm yeah those were my main takeaways. the show lacks the depth it used to have. I think what would have worked for me is seeing all of the originals train another team and pop in every now and then rather than go back to the original cast for the main stories.
I don't know if I'll keep watching if the series gets renewed is my conclusion
