Found out about an elevated boardwalk in a nearby swamp and went out on it to see the native irises in bloom. This pink lichen was an exciting bonus!
The other day I was leaving work when I caught a flash of pink in my periphery. Looking over I saw exactly what I was hoping to see, a pair of roseate spoonbills! I'd been hoping to see some, but really thought I'd have to head out to the swamp, but here these were, right in the middle of town. I immediately whipped my car into the first available parking spot and hopped out to get a better look. They were beautiful. I just wish I'd had my camera with me for better pictures.
It seems like each year I get more and more excited about bird sightings. This is just who I am. I like it.
From a springtime trip to a nearby rose garden.
The first iris of the year! There's a second one blooming, and at least three more buds (one pictured). The amaryllis won't be far behind, with five big buds nearly ready to open!

Some roses I saw near the library.
A light fog was wafting across the face of the water this weekend. I wish I could have captured it well in motion.
Magic doesn't sweep you away; it gathers you up into the body of the present moment so thoroughly that all your explanations fall away: the ordinary, in all its plain and simple outrageousness, begins to shine -- to become luminously, impossibly so. Every facet of the world is awake, and you within it.
The deeper I slid into the material density of the real, the more I found that there was nothing determinate or predictable about existence. Actuality, this inexhaustible mystery, cannot be domesticated. It is wildness incarnate. Reality shapeshifts.
