Since Ocean had moved to town, he had become fast friends with Ember. He had met very few witches in his life and the majority of them were well versed in the craft. Finding a home in a coven wasn’t exactly the easier task to pull off, especially when your lack of knowledge felt like a burden upon everyone else, but thankfully he’d encountered a girl who was just starting and together this developed into kind of a dynamic pairing. They’d hung out, spent long nights talking, eating food, watching movies. He felt as if she was just a regular part of his life, a part that had always been there. He wouldn’t say this aloud but he felt like he was finally getting a close relationship with someone his age that he’d missed out on with his brother. No one was fully dependant on the other. They were equals who took care of each other and he valued that more than anything.
That’s was why he had to do this. He’d heard countless warnings about contacting spirits. It was a known fact both within and outside of the witching community because letting in spirits onto your plane of existence could have severe consequences. He would do this for her. All the nights she’d spent talking about this. She needed this. And besides, it was risky, but not impossible. “I’m fine. Really. I’m fine. I’m definitely not terrified,” he lied, forcing a smile. He was sat cross-legged across from Ember. “Do the lights have to be off for this?”
