The day i start to give a fuck about American politics and who I should vote (performing my supposed civic responsibility) is when we stop segregating different views into two bullshit categories that is Democrat or Republican and actually place them in the same room and hopefully realize underneath all of that JPMorgan Chase endorsement glitter, that they’re fighting for the same thing.

So I think this happened about a week ago but I randomly started thinking about it and it made me angry. So angry. So incredibly angry that I started tearing up. What happened was that Colombia’s president, Juan Miguel Santos, had some trouble with incontinence during a public televised event. Videos of this made its way to social media and led to a series of cruel and demeaning comments. That’s exactly what made me so angry. Santos has to deal with incontinence after a battle with prostate cancer. Yes I understand that steps should be taken to prevent this from happening in a public event but the man is human. He was able to beat cancer! And still be president. Isn’t that amazing? Doesn’t it inspire anyone?! What type of message are we sending to the survivors of prostate cancer that have issues with incontinence? That they should be ashamed? It’s frustrating because I think those comments belittle what people with prostate cancer have gone through. Not just them really but also people with chrons, colitis or any other disease who have ‘accidents’ every once in a while. They have nothing to be ashamed of. We have nothing to be ashamed of. If anything these experiences make us stronger. I think it’s important to remember to be human at least every once in a while and realize that no one is perfect. Most importantly, no one has the right to belittle others because of their medical conditions.
