I just saw something that really rubbed me the wrong way. A few days ago, a video went viral online of a man telling his wife that she's pregnant (look it up lol, their names are Sam and Nia) and it was adorable. He videoed the whole thing, and she cried and it was possibly one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Mind you, these people are daily "vloggers". They have a ton of subscribers on YouTube, and upload videos every single day of their every day lives. So naturally, this was something that they wanted to post and share with the world. Today, they posted a video of both of them visibly upset and crying, because they just found out that Nia had miscarried. Again, they are DAILY vloggers and post videos every single day to share their lives with their online fanbase, and a lot of vloggers feel as though their subscribers and fans are their extended family, so naturally they share good and bad news with them. The video was hard to watch because I can't even begin to imagine the pain they're going through, but as I scrolled through a few comments on the video, I saw people criticizing them, saying that the whole thing was a "stunt", and telling them that they should've kept it to themselves and not posted a video for their "15 minutes of fame", and that tons of people miscarry everyday and no one cares, among other nasty things. I'm reading these comments, and I'm thinking to myself.. "are you kidding me? These people just lost a baby and they actually have people criticizing them online for it." People, get a grip. There are many famous YouTubers whose actual JOB is to make videos. They support themselves on their videos about their lives. Sure, there are some vloggers out there who just make purely funny videos and draw up scripts beforehand, but there are many, many YouTubers out there who simply just film their life and share their experiences with the people who support them online. Sam and Nia posting their excitement over their pregnancy, and then announcing their miscarriage was not for publicity. It was not a stunt. It was something that they felt they wanted to share with the world. Some people remain private about these matters, and some choose to go public with it; usually for support and uplifting words through their difficult times. How would all of you people out there making nasty comments towards them feel if the roles were reversed and YOU had just lost a baby, and had millions of comments online telling you you're a terrible person for sharing it with the world? You'd feel pretty crappy about it. It just really disgusts me that no one can do anything in this world anymore without receiving criticism for it. Send these people love and support during this difficult time, not hate. It's seriously so uncalled for.
