What lengths bands had to go to back in the day to reach their fans! 🤯 Hand-written notes, and/or getting their wives/girlfriends/grandmas to do it for them. Some bands got a little fancier and went to Kinkos eventually, but I’m amazed at the effort that went into correspondence before the internet happened. Here’s correspondence from an industrial band out of Dallas called Lesson Seven. The date on the 12” is is 1989, the letter is postmarked 1990. I have NO IDEA how I heard about them, or how/why they sent me this record (for free I assume, it’s not like I had a checking account at age 13) and apparently a cassette as well (that box is for another day….). Also how funny David Starfire kept asking for my picture 😅 (Things were just like the internet before the internet I guess 😅) Anyway, there is a bunch of their music on YouTube if you are curious. It’s not half-bad! And it turns out that Scott Crow, the vocalist, is a published author and socio-political activist! Badass! Thanks for the free record, dudes! 🙏 I still have it!
