Last night, the moon shared this message: "When you are fulfilled, you shine." Becoming a regular at the free night swims at Barton Springs has been so good for my soul. Some friends have described it as the perfect way to "wash away the day." As busy as I've been lately, I need to punctuate my day with a plunge. And it's turned into a kind of ceremony. A daily baptism. No matter how busy you are, you can still create little holy moments for yourself. In fact, the more pressures you have in your work life, the more important it is for us to be chasing the sacred. Wim Hof, aka The Iceman, says "God is Cold". For him, becoming comfortable with submerging in stingingly cold water is something very spiritual. And through cold exposures coupled with his breathing techniques, he's developed a way to actually regulate his autonomic nervous system. Check out the Vice documentary about him, truly fascinating. This week I'm so thankful to have brother bears that are down to go for a late night swim. It's free. It's fun. And as evidenced by what the message the moon shared, it's also fulfilling. I've vowed to stay in tune with the natural elements this year, especially the moon.
