There was definitely skepticism still there. Uh oh. She had said the wrong thing. Then again if she weren’t so honest and the other saw her hanging out with nachim? Yeah that might prompt a worse reaction. “I can tell you don’t believe me. That’s ok. It’s smart for a woman to be on her guard. Especially with someone like Nachim around.”
She can’t help but admire the way the other moved. That ethereal quality that made it look as if she were underwater. Her hair floating all around like a crown. “Oh he does.” She chuckled a moment. Curiosity in her eyes. “Wow. That’s a long time. What prompted you to join?”
She smiles at the nonverbal praise. “Really? How so?” (Ruby to Leila)
Leila hummed. At least Ruby understood - even more so, at least she wasn't angry! So often people loved to be angry when they didn't get their way. It was certainly nice to see this difference in a person.
"Nachim ambushed me! He had been following me around and predicted where I would next appear. He stopped me, pretending to be an exorcist. I played along and pretended to die, he then picked me up and carried me away. He just wouldn't leave me alone after that! He asked me so many questions and wanted to understand everything about me." But that hadn't answered her question. "He was why I joined. I think he is why most people join. He felt no guilt. At all. About anything. I could sense nothing from him and... it was... refreshing. New. Normally I feel it off of everyone. Actually, I don't really feel it from you, either." Ah, to be honest... "He also promised riches and jewels and power. There was no reason to say no. How about you? Why are you here?"
"You do not know. Black magic, even to this day, is very loved by us Turkish. We are selfish by nature. So many have failed, and so many have lost out. As a group of people, we cannot escape our bitter heritage."
She could see the other’s face fall. “Oh don’t get me wrong. I’m curious how he does it but I’m not particularly interested in imitating him or anything. Guys are one thing but when I flirt with women it’s because I want to see them smile. To have some sort of connection. I’m not really the relationship type but I don’t ever want a woman to feel like I was using her. So if she needs a relationship I don’t want to hurt her. But if she’s cool with a friend fawning all over her and giving her some mind blowing orgasms? That is my jam.” She offered a smile. Not flirtatious but genuine. Nachim was fascinating to her, but they distinctly had very different goals. That smile all but disappearing at the other’s exclamation. “Oh no no. Nothing weird. Our dad was on this ship for a time at one point. He would tell tales of his adventures. I didn’t pay much attention but Mel loved it. Her favorites, outside stories with her mom, were about who he called the blood knight and the pirate king. He spoke highly of them so she ended up with a little puppy crush on both.”
The attempt at Turkish, even if slightly off, was well received. “Elenize saglik.” She copied the woman. “That’s a really cool saying. It’s….sweet.” (Ruby to Leila)
"I see." But she wasn't so sure. She still felt a little sceptical. Of course a pick-up artist would say something like that. Leila decided she'd have to be quite on her guard around Ruby - she didn't want to fall for the pretty words of Nachim's apprentice.
Leila nodded, her hair floating weightlessly and swaying and she moved her head. "The pirate king. I'm sure Nachim just loves to hear that. You know I joined... maybe... forty years after Nachim established the crew. I have been here a long time."
Leila daintily clapped to cheer on Ruby's repetition. It was a mouthful and Ruby had done well! "Hm. Isn't it unique? Normally Turks are more bitter than sweet."
“I can’t disagree with you there.” The smooth voice with just a hint of a lilt. An accent she found very charming. So many things made this woman very alluring. Though perhaps there’s a few thoughts spared to what exactly happened in life that turned her into what she was. A topic for another time. Or whenever the other wishes to discuss it. If she ever did.
“I guess he’s noble in a certain respect. He seems pretty good about caring for his crew. But yeah when it comes to thinking with his dick, he’s just like most other guys.” There’s confusion from the other. So an older spirit that hadn’t really kept up with developing slang. “Sorry I mean his flirtation. He does something to charm the pants and panties off a lot of people. I’m curious to exactly what happens. How he manages to seduce others. And for once I can’t just use Mel as a test subject since she’s had a crush on him since she was a kid.” That frown was not something she wanted to see on the others face. “Oh I’m sure there’s definitely people out there with something against him. But for a man, he’s definitely gonna be one with the fewest complaints.”
She watched the other work. Finish the brew and set everything up to be carried to the table. The words oddly familiar. It took her a moment to think. “Sagol….sorry if I completely butchered that. I learned a couple words from a client once but I know I have pretty terrible pronunciation.” (Ruby to Leila)
"Oh..." Leila wasn't sure how she felt about that. Ruby wanted to be some kind of pick-up artist like Nachim? Were her words as empty as his? "What? She's had a crush on him since she was a child? What did he do to her?!"
Leila grinned, so pleased to hear Ruby speaking Turkish, "When someone presents us with food they made we say 'elenize sağlık'. This means 'may your hands be healthy', so that they can continue to make you more. Can you say that? Elenize sağlık."
The compliments were certainly doing their job to brighten the woman’s face. Smiling and giggling at the flirtations. Awesome. Ruby would rather see that lovely smile than the pain of earlier. “I know this is very cliche to say, but you really look beautiful when you smile.”
That cringe. Those words. The wolf couldn’t help falling into a bout of laughter. “You mean especially the captain. If rumors I hear are right, if he didn’t have the sterility thing going on he would have a kid in practically every port in the world.” Another moment of laughter at the idea. “I honestly do have an admiration for the game he has though. We have a bit of an arrangement where one of these days he needs to take me with him on shore leave so I can watch him work. I’m really curious how he plays it.” There’s a moment’s contemplation before her face takes on a softer quality. “I think in this world, my adoptive father is the one man you can trust. He’s honest and caring. When I was just in his care he treated me well. And when I was adopted he didn’t treat me any differently than Mel. But I guess that’s more an exception to the rule thing. Most men suck horribly. Saint is pretty cool for the most part, but he’s also a giant idiot.” Now she was back to laughing. Shaking her head at the offer. “My sister is the one with the sweet tooth. I like things sweet on occasion but I often prefer a more robust flavor.” (Ruby to leila)
"Oh, please. No need to keep digging, you've already struck gold." The response was flirtatious and silky, a crooked smile with teasing eyes accompanied her words.
Leila laughed, "It's a shame. I had such high hopes that he'd be a noble, honourable man. He acts like he is." Pah. She should have known better. "What? What do you mean by game? How he plays what?" Was Leila understanding that too literally? She hated to frown, but she couldn't help it. "I'm sure there is someone out there who would disagree with you when it comes to your baba." She had no doubt about it. A man is a man is a man.
So... no sugar in the coffee? She turns off the stove and pours the coffee out into two cups. Moving aside, two cups of water were then filled. "You can pour the water in your coffee if it's too strong or too hot." Stacked on a detailed wooden tray, everything was brought over and carefully set down on the table. "Afiyet olsun."

“Nonsense. I’m merely speaking the truth. A woman like you is a treasure that had to have been sought after. And lucky me gets to sit here and share a cup of proper coffee.” She offered a smile. Bright and flirtatious. Throwing a wink.
“Oh I am a woman that is very comfortable getting dirty. If the situation calls for it of course.” Perhaps there’s a mischievous gleam in her eye for a moment. “On occasion. Though generally it has to be a very important circumstance. Except one time. An ex cheated on me and I just had to walk in on him mid thrust so I could see the look on his face. He looked so surprised and frightened. Was absolutely hilarious.” (Ruby to Leila)
Leila could listen to this all day. It was beautiful. She smiled and giggled and acted as if she hadn't just been sobbing her heart out moments earlier.
Ugh. The image Ruby's words painted in her head made her cringe. "Men really are dogs, you know. Even the captain. All of them! You can never trust a man, not fully." She continued to stir. "Did you want sugar, dear? I don't usually have any in mine. Remember it doesn't taste like American coffee."
“I bet you had suitors falling at your feet begging for just for a chance to glimpse a smile on your lips. As they should.” The wolf was very happy to ply compliments. Especially ones she felt definitely had a ring of truth to them. There was no one someone like Leila wasn’t turning heads. “Oh that I have. I had admirer bring me some once. And I went on a research mission to learn how to make them. Though the best I had was still an apology/comfort gift my sister received. I still haven’t been able to figure out what they did to make it so perfect.” (Ruby and leila)
Leila scoffed - an attempt at seeming nonchalant while she was entirely flattered and becoming putty in Ruby's hands. "Really. You are far too much." No, she's not enough!!! More please!
"It takes patience and practice. And being willing to get your fingers sticky." Which Leila... wasn't... The cezve with coffee and water was set on a lit portable stove. She stood stirring as she looked over to Ruby. "So? Do you always just enter people's bedrooms?"
Ruby wasn’t as versed in history as some of the others. But knew at least enough to understand that title. “Wow. That’s a very high rank. Someone is certainly very important.” The wolf finally took a seat. “I have. My line of work brings me across a lot of delicacies. Though I’m pretty sure you have access to types I’ve never even heard of.” She’s very curious about this fortune reading business. The beautiful chef had performed one for them to be able to board. But the wolf had a feeling that type of fortune telling wasn’t what was being offered here. “That sounds fun. Let’s see what fate has in store for little old me.” (Ruby to leila)
Leila smiled happily. Yes, very important! Keep going, Ruby, she's loving this.
The spirit felt quite surprised. "You must have at least tried Turkish delights and baklava?" Surely?! She moved over to start preparing the coffee, collecting two very small mugs and bringing out a pretty crystal jar of powdered coffee.
