Ok I want to Jam about LEGOs: cuz @cleversnail and I were jamming about how sentient your average LEGO person is.
SPOILERS!!! to follow!!
—-
So Toy Story canon follows that the toys are sentient, they know they are toys, they’re immobile when Andy et. al interact with them but can move on their own. Additionally, have their own lives and stories outside the stories Andy plays with them.
However! As we saw in TLM2, the legofolk can’t move unless they’re manipulated by someone’s imagination (Finn, Bianca, etc.) or like, feet connected to a set of LEGO or SOMETHING similar I haven’t figured out yet (and I’d LOVE to hear yalls thoughts on that).
We see in TLM that when Emmet is knocked out of the Octan tower and he’s NOT amongst other lego pieces that he can’t move but is aware but disorientated, and same with Lucy in TLM2. But! When the lego gang are in the bins surrounded by pieces they can move their faces but not bodies and are obviously aware of their surroundings.
So here are my thoughts/questions:
1) How aware of themselves are the legofolks? TLM establishes that Master Builders (at least Lucy and Vitruvius) train their whole lives for a glimpse of the Man Upstairs; their ominipresent, all-seeing God (?)
So Emmet and Lucy and probably your average Master Builder have SOME idea they are controlled by a greater outside force, but
2) Do AVERAGE legofolk (i.e. Larry the barista, etc.) have any idea of a greater outside force?
(I’m thinking probably not, since when the Gang is put into the Storage Bin after Ourmamageddon, surfer/chainsaw Dave says “IT’S PURGATORY DAVE, NOW!” but every other character just refers to it as the Been of Storaj)
Anyway this was a suuuper long post but I’m interested in y’alls thoughts!
@calypsolemon
Harry Potter Legos.... Yes or no. 😂
i’ve built hogwarts out of legos. hasn’t everyone? lol
was not quite as hard as the Apollo, but it was annoying af and now in random pieces in the playroom. (along with the Apollo).
Also, when are we getting a Lego Impala set? bc I’m finding it really hard to peice it together myself. lol
