Appetizing title, I know. Iâm in an awful mood. I havenât gotten to posting anything lately, because this country has been shit, the weather is shit, my hypochondria has been handing me my ass and I have a short attention span and keep getting distracted by other stuff (like playing E.B.O.N.Y. âtil 5AM). Also I donât appreciate being woken up by leaf blowers, whose name should just be changed to Satan machines because thatâs what they are. RAKE THE DAMN YARD. Now I shall offer you a whiny rant about how badly this first world country sucks.
1. The Finns Party is so embarrassing that I canât even keep up with how embarrassing they are anymore. Their representativesâ poor knowledge of Finnish law and science and their strange worship of their incompetent party leader are appalling, but the worst things about them are their casual attitude to racism and their blatant homophobia. Letâs start with the racism.
Currently particularly our social media is crawling with assholes, some of whom are blatantly Nazi, spouting their barely literate bullshit about Islamization and Jews and what have you and giving names and faces to Finlandâs shrieking need for better mental health care, and the Finns Party is not-all-that-subtly endorsing it, some of their representatives even participate. That is fucking insane. Representatives of a cabinet party are engaging in a collective delusion where everything from them not getting laid to the poor economy to the crazy right wing murderer who attacked a school in Sweden yesterday are somehow the fault of immigration, and thatâs that and fact checking is for tolet*rds and sissies. All the while attacks against refugee centers, Ku Klux Klan âjokesâ and blatant verbal abuse of refugees are becoming commonplace here. What the fuck is wrong with this country.
Then the homophobia, another area where the party is making an ass of itself and giving some of my brain cells the sudden need to commit seppuku. Recently the parliament went over some laws that will change as a result of the legalization of same sex marriage, and justice minister (and Finns Party MP) Jari LindstrĂśm was quick to point out how reluctant he is to present this to the parliament, because apparently doing his fucking job is a problem for him if everything doesnât go the way he wants it to. Other Finns Party members also held some pretty asinine speeches, particularly former drunkard criminal and current born-again fundie nutcase Mika Niikko who went on a deranged rant about how MPs have been appointed by God and therefore should follow the word of God and God hates f*gs and where is minister Palpatineâs and minister Soiniâs fear of God anyway (presumably he targeted these two because both are practicing Christians). It must be fun to live in such delusions of grandeur that you think you're Godâs chosen vessel, when the sad truth is that you were appointed by a bunch of moron voters who are just as dumb as you. Niikko also called bishop Kari Mäkinen (who has supported same sex marriage) a âpaid shepherdâ, and I donât even know what a âpaid shepherdâ is but Iâm sure itâs very insulting, not that the church even has anything to do with this law but we wonât let facts get in our way, now will we, Mika. The Christian Democrats threw their own little hissy-fit too, but itâs not like anyone takes those motherfuckers seriously.
2. Okay, enough about the Finns Party, since I certainly havenât forgotten about the Corruption- oh, sorry, I of course mean Coalition Party. (Lately there has been rumours of hidden money from anonymous donors and all sorts of scheming within the party. Even the president, who is from the Coalition Party appeared annoyed with the party high-ups. All I have to say about that is that it should surprise NO ONE if it is true.) Nor have I forgotten the Center party, which is basically the Coalition Party with a different logo nowadays with Palpatine being in charge. Theyâve been up to some pretty damn sinister shit too, whilst everyone is gawking at the clusterfuck that is the Finns Party. Well, thankfully not everyone, since the opposition at least managed to shoot down their ridiculous idea of a law that would have allowed tax evaders to confess to one tax crime and get a slight tax hike and immunity for all their other tax crimes. Simultaneously the cabinet was going to cut a bunch of money from the prevention of tax evasion and have the police chasing small fish like people who sell *gasp* too cheap pizza. (How cheap is too cheap? Under 6 euros. Why yes, our food prices are ridiculous.) But as I said, this got harpooned. The business parties are still working on a law that would make it easier to hide money abroad (=tax evasion) though, despite all experts who know anything telling them that itâs a stupid idea, so just for that they deserve to be blasted.
3. None of this may actually matter much though, because as Iâm writing this, the cabinet may be falling apart over the question of how many health care districts Finland should have. The Center Party which has tons of voters in the countryside are like âof course every village in the middle of nowhere should be its own health care district duh!â and the Coalition Party is like âwaaahhh thatâll take too much of the precious money that we want for ourselves so five districts and radical privatization are the way to go!â and the Finns Party doesnât know diddly dick so theyâre just sulking on the side hoping that the other parties will even want to talk to them. And in his typical fashion Palpatine is stomping his feet like a five-year-old and is threatening to dismantle the cabinet if he doesnât get his way, because this is the company of Finland and he is the C.E.O and itâs his way or the highway dammit. He is unfathomably childish, and I for one hope he does dismantle the cabinet, itâs not like theyâve done anything right so far anyway and a new election would suit me real good, since it would likely mean way less Finns Party buffoons in the parliament. But I donât feel all that hopeful that the cabinet wonât work out some awful right wing compromise that will fuck all of us over instead. Weâll see, I guess.
UPDATE: Ayup. Pretty much the worst compromise imaginable. Took the worst part out of the Center Partyâs and the Coalition Partyâs models and mashed them together into a full-blown nightmare of a âsolutionâ. Their greed and hunger for power never ceases to surprise and disgust me, they are fully willing to gamble with the health and safety of the people for their own personal gain. Deplorable sacks of shit. But I donât wish any harm on them. I just wish they would go away.
