I tried Brandywines one year and had trouble with them splitting before they were ripe. Hope you have better luck. Yeah, stake them earlier rather than later for better growth. You lucky duck, I won't have local tomatoes till July.
If it is any consolation, I am pretty sure my basil plants are furious with me and will never, ever grow after the initial stripping of leaves. I think I went too far...
I have no earthly idea when tomatoes start actually growing here. Right now all my veg plants are still just nice, green and leafy. I hope they do something before summer rains down the anvils of pain on us. Otherwise I am going to get super buff hauling those containers in and out of the shade and sun.

i can nearly smell your tomato plant from here...
The Roma in the top forefront? Isn't it getting huge? When I got it nearly three weeks ago it was just a wee straggly almost seedling, and gosh, but it's getting big in a hurry, just exploding and hauling the bell pepper it's in with along with it. I'm definitely going to have to get a proper five gallon container and a big old bag of soil for it on my next paycheck, and maybe a couple for the new Early Girl and Brandywine if they haven't kicked it by then - the Brandywine's got some leaf yellowing I don't like.
Oh my god you guys I am now so excited for these damn basil plants.

leepbc14 replied to your post:Okay guys. We’ve been making fun of Glee calling...
Well in a way that episode title is clever because all Friends episode titles started with “The One.”
I mean kinda, but really that's just them fitting their theme. Which Glee has never had.
So really it's just the same, just Friends had a theme.
Sorry, I've been drawing comparisons between Friends and Glee since season 2 cuz there are a surprising numbers of them. Glee definitely is aware of Friends as part of its history.
