This is a so called Lilypad - a small microcontroller board that is especially designed to be sewn into clothing, therefore it is relatively thin and has a round shape. Above are LED sequins, which are designed to be used on garments as well, both can be sewn with conductive thread to both hold them on the fabric and form a circuit.
