sometimes, being good is not the right answer/attitude.
I think, If we’re talking in a realist perspective, what they say “the world will not treat you better just because you’re a good person” could be the truth, and in a way it is a truth that is hard to swallow. Because admit it or not, a lot of us have seen and experienced so much things we don’t deserve despite being and doing good. Based on my experience and the people who are the closest to me that have such beautiful souls, no matter how good you are, if the people you’re surrounded with are not the right people for you, are toxic and abuse that goodness you share with them, the world will eventually not be a better place for you. So, at the end of the day, it all boils down to cutting off those types of people and knowing whom to share your light with. And no, this is not to tell you to outgrow your softness in this harsh world. I know how hard it is to do that, even I still struggle with how “soft” I am. But may this be a reminder that it’s ok to get out of that stereotypical “good person” that they identified you with. Sometimes, saying NO is good, turning someone’s favor down is good, refusing is good, thinking of yourself first is good. Remember that PLEASING OTHER PEOPLE and BYPASSING YOURSELF ≠ BEING/DOING GOOD. May we learn/start learning/maintain how to set HEALTHY BOUNDARIES and protect our peace, so we can BE and DO GOOD without neglecting anyone, especially ourselves.
