For the new card, League Guildmage, you have to use her second ability while the original card is on the stack, correct?
Correct.
League Guildmageâs second ability requires a target, and you can only target an instant or sorcery spell while itâs on the stack. If it has already resolved, itâs too late. Youâll need to hold priority after casting the spell in order to use League Guildmage in most cases.

If I cast Selective Snare and choose a soldier token, then copy it by League Guildmage second ability, can I choose a bird token as new target? Or I have to choose another creature which has soldier type?
Youâll have to choose another Soldier.
While you normally make decisions such as choosing a creature type when a spell resolves, thatâs not the case for Selective Snare. Selective Snare requires the type to be chosen in order to choose targets, so the choice is made immediately before you choose your targets when you cast it. Since the copy made by League Guildmage isnât being cast, you donât get to choose a different type for it and are locked into targeting more creatures of the same type.
