yeji being a firebender just makes sense, that determination she has just screams fire to me, and she’s been associated with fire elements for ages: crown on my head and fireworks, i think she would absolutely seek out and master the ancient form from the dragons if given the chance, but doesn't dabble into lightning bending, she might know how to redirect it but not how to generate it

i debated between water and air for jisu, but i think water wins out because she's still grounded in a way that air isn't. i could see her picking up the Northern style of waterbending, that graceful and defensive type instead of the other more aggressive types. i could also see her having healing abilities as well.

okay ryujin was either air or earth, i went with earth because that made a little more sense overall. i think ryujin's the only one among the five of them to really be neutral on offense and defense, which lends really well into earthbending's style. plus with earthbending being the most diverse type of bending, i think ryujin would greatly enjoy that flexibility, metalbending, lavabending, she'd do it all.

(but bear with me, ryujin could be an airbender. there's a fluidity to airbenders that the other elements simply do not provide. ryujin handles everything without looking like she's breaking a sweat, there's a calmness and confidence there that isn't dependent on external sources and that is so airbender philosophy.)

chaeryeong was the hardest for me to pinpoint. i debated between water or earth for her, but i think the volatile potential for water wins. there's an unpredictability and almost unassuming nature given to waterbenders that chaeryeong totally uses to her advantage. the fluid and graceful nature of water makes sense on the surface but i think she'd prefer the pro-bending style of waterbending (think Korra), something sharper and more precise on the offense. i also think she knows bloodbending because she doesn't want to be caught off guard by a bloodbender, i highly doubt she likes using that style but she does know it.

yuna as an earthbender, i think she's become such a steady and unshakeable presence within itzy, whenever we get glimpses into her thought process, it's always very grounded and more mature than people give her credit for that really ties into the earthbender's philosophy. she'd pick up glass and metalbending really easily with how artsy she is. (and apparently pigment bending is a thing too, our resident artist would love that!)

this was so fun, hope all that made sense, also whose gonna write the atla itzy au cause i need this like desperately... one of my fav fics ever is an atla au twice fic.
