Lestat's skepticism was predicted, hence why Cain exerts patience. Not a single facial muscle moves while he waits through the vampire's eyes flitting from his face to the finger and back in rapid succession. When finally those fingers wrap around his own to comply with his request, sudden tremors shake the floor below their feet ; anything made of glass jingles, wood rattles. The finger-pull was absolutely not necessary. Just served to plant confusion. And before Lestat can complain, Cain pulls him even closer to drawl past an impish grin: "That's what my nerves do whenever you test my patience." Quiver under the force of disciplined restraint preventing him to lash out. To be fair, the vampire's demeanor has improved, so the demon's show isn't over yet. But the quake stops. Cain keeps Lestat close, now interlacing their fingers in an absentminded fashion. "And that's the reward for your recent efforts to tone it down." That said, he plants a kiss to the vampire's lips— this time, no drop of alcohol flows through his system so yes, he's acting consciously.
