This young girl walked past me and I took a chance to ask if I can take a portrait of her. She said yes! I thought she dressed a little more ‘western’ and therefore had the courage to ask. From my observations, the younger people doesn’t dressed like their elders and most youth choose to dress not too “traditional”. You can felt that from the influential from the internet as the older they get, the more traditional they are and they parallel the grown of the internet age. A 20 year old vs a 30 year old man, the difference are huge. Of course, the location matters too, the more south you go, the more tradition they get.

In the old quarters of Bou Saada. 

Muhammad drove us around Bou Saada city up to the valley where this cemetery is. The man in the 2nd picture is his friend, when we drove past him, muhammad asked him to post for a picture but he was not in the mood because his mom just passed away.

We met Muhammad while walking on the streets of Bou Saada. He brought us around town and invited us over for dinner. In return, I told him that I can shoot portraits of him. He wanted to dressed up in his traditional burnous

In a Khaima decorated restaurant. This is rice salase, in France Salade de riz with this beef with cheese top. Honestly, the beef was in one of the best beef that I ever had in the world, partly due to the fact the way the animals are raised and slaughtered.

A shepherd and his flock. The domestication of sheeps originated in the fertile crescent and these animals actually do prefer to the arid land than the wetlands of the west. They have less health problems as compared to the animals raised in the west.
