A Photo Travelogue - Algeria and the Saharan cities/JAN-APR2020

In the town where Assif l'Hammam is located. It is at the bottom of Adekar. On this day, I travelled from Azeffoun - Azazga - Yakouren - Adekar - Assif l'Hammam - Adekar and finally heading towards Akfadou Lac Noir. I didn’t managed to get to my final destination but stopped and pitched a tent in the woods after a 8km hike and realising it was going to snow halfway to my campsite.

My two best friend Mokdad and Nabil. That day we hiked deep in Chrea mountain about 20km of treacherous mountain road. It was the first of two massive hike which I told myself not to get into because me and Nabil almost lost our lives.

Hmida is a retired military man. He used to serve in the bazooka unit and was a general. Now he runs the only convenience shop maybe 20km from the next town. Basically everyone from irhzer would frequent his shop. His opening hours are from 5am-11am & 5pm-7pm. His house is just behind his shop and his ‘jardin’ is opposite to his shop. He would tend to his jardin before sunsets with free water running from the foggara. Life is simple and good.

The lamb was brought over by Muhammad and his friend on their truck. We met them at Mansor’s farm. 

We arrived at Mansor’s farm. I never had a goat or animal being slaughter in front of me before eating it. The feelings are quite mixed. As soon as I saw the goat at the back of the truck, I knew he’s gonna die soon. Mohamed and his friends pulled the goat to the back of the farm. I followed. The goat obviously had no idea he’s going to die. I saw the goat feeding off plants while being pulled by its horn. In the goats mind, it’s just another day feeding, he trusted his owner or carer and is programmed by nature to feed or /run and survive/ make babies. We are eating his meat to sustain our energy as food because we are higher conscience beings. The goat in turn feeds on the plant to sustain his life. The plant takes in carbon dioxide & sunlight/water and photosynthesis occurs thus giving the plant life to grow, in return they get glucose and release oxygen, we as human being needs oxygen to live. All living things has a symbiotic relationship to each other one way or the other. The sun is the ultimate source of energy of the universe and provide energy to all living things. We all live in this cosmic spiral from the biggest tree to the smallest bacteria, when something dies, it converts to another form. A thought went through my mind, our human life is just a quick blink compared to the vast evolution timeline and nothing else matters except your current life/ happiness because time is running away from you. All living things have to face death, I don’t know where It will be for me But now I need to live life to the fullest!!! 

I found this 3 bedroom rent free desert front cave. Best of all, you have a 10000000000000000000 rated stars toilet just two steps out of your front door and it’s huge. The steps actually lead up to a one bedroom cave which I reckon it’s the master bedroom.
