"Sure," Steve says. "But you make the coffee. I don't know what you did, but it actually tasted decent today." "Trade secret," Danny says, because it's either that or 'I controlled the coffeemaker with my mind.' After getting struck by lightning (don't tell Steve), Danny develops a strange affinity for technology. Using it to keep his loved ones safe is the logical next step. He just has to figure out how to do that.

My thoughts:

McDanno in their pure element. Danny absolutly focus in protecting Steve, and Steve completely gone for Danny. I adored the premise so much! Super-powered Danno is hilarious.

Heee! Thank you! :D I’m so glad I had my camera with me that day, because I think that photo of my hand next to a wolf track the same size as my hand is going down as one of those once-in-a-lifetime pictures.

Oh yeah! Japan has 24+ time. Not like. On watches and such? But if you’re taking the nightbus on say, Saturday evening, it might be indicated as leaving at 25:30. Which is hella confusing until you realize this BRILLIANT. Because otherwise if you have a time to keep that’s after midnight but before proper morning at least I am always doing the mental thing of “wait, did they mean Saturday evening or Sunday morning is this even the right day??”So that bus leaving at 25:30 on Saturday? Means you can spend Saturday in town and then start looking to get to the station sometime after midnight.

I looooove the summer (as long as we don’t hit record high temperatures).

I like all the light, the smiley people, parents going with their kids to the parks and beaches, I like that night doesn’t hit us until 9pm and that supermarkets close later, so I can just pop in there and grab some biscuits or chocolate on a whim. I absolutely love how green tree leaves look when sunlight shines through them and the warm air in the afternoon. I absolutely adore that after particularly hot days, as long as there hasn’t been any breeze or strong winds the night before, we get misty morning that don’t clear up until 10 or even 12, giving us reprieve form baking under the sun. I love the buzzing of bees (from behind a closed window 😜) and that if you wear shorts on a really old car, your legs stick to the (fake)leather. I love the short shorts everybody seems to wear, I’m a sucker for sleeveless t-shirts and for hats: trucker hats, cowboy hats, adventure hats, indiana jones hats, straw hats, nylon hats, super technological type of fabric hats, you name it, I just really like hats... and sunglasses!!! I love my sepia sunglasses and all the people with sunglasses outside. Oh, and the feeling of water going down and hitting your stomach after a brisk walk outside. Man, I have really strong feelings for summertime :D

Starter: ‘I wish I met you sooner’

“I wi’ I ‘et you ‘ooner.”

Danny strains to hear Steve’s voice through the oxygen mask that’s covering his face.  Around them paramedics are rapping out instructions as they prepare to cut Steve out of his crushed truck.  

Danny leans forward.  The angle’s awkward – the truck’s on its roof – and his knees protest as he curls himself into the confined space of the cab.  Gasoline fumes fill his nostrils, making his head swim.

Shit.

“What did you say, babe?”

Steve coughs, a wet sound. Glassy-eyed, he slow-blinks at Danny.  “I wi…wish ...I met…you sooner.”

Danny’s blood runs cold.

Late at night he’s had nightmares about this moment, when everything ends.   Steve lives on the edge.  But he never imagined this: Steve taken off the road by a teenager high on drugs.

Carefully he wraps his fingers around Steve’s.  The paramedics have given Steve something for the pain but he’s still not sure where to touch.  Gently he squeezes.  The barely-there squeeze he gets back feels as good as winning the lottery.

“It’ll be okay, babe,” he promises.  “You’re not going anywhere.  Retirement remember?  You and me—”

“No—”

“Yes.”  He rubs his fingers over Steve’s, frowning at how cold they are. “Who’s gonna work front of house—”

Steve makes a gurgling sound.  Danny panics. Opening his mouth to scream for help, he’s stopped by Steve tugging at his hand.

“Didn’t mean that,” Steve rasps through the mask, each word punctuated by a breath. “I wish I’d been on time.  ‘Wouldn’t have hit that car.”

“Then that bastard wouldn’t have hit you,” Danny corrects automatically. Suddenly he realises what’s happening: Steve’s actually laughing him at. Kind of.  He’s laughing.
