IM GLAD YOU ASKED!!! already started to infodump here so in this post i'll talk about lau specifically :] i created her this summer and she's like. Dealing With A Lot but bottling it all up..... girl when will u go to therapy

her dad died when she was 14 and the funeral happened just after her middle school final exams and it was. really weird for her because her mom made her attend said exams despite everything that was happening and she didn't know how to process all of it. she didn't cry but felt...empty and guilty for not expressing her grief the same way her mom, sister and other relatives did. she doesn't express her feelings out loud and due to this, she holds a lot of resentment and bottled up desire! this is certainly not going to lead her to explode later!

lauren (a.k.a lau, all of her friends call her by her nickname) is a very pessimist literature major who's doing her second first year of university. she feels really bad about it for no reason other than she's always been a straight a student until now and doesn't like bringing attention on her. her younger sister, lisa, is an art major. also! she is a redhead. haven't thought of her specific french regional origins so if u have any suggestions lmk

calcifer is a japanese major, but lau and them happen to be in the same english class at university. they like to wear shirts with kitschy flame patterns on them (i was envisioning something like. hawaiian shirts but with flames. do you see what i'm talking about....); they're of french, spanish and chilean descent.

lau introduces calcifer to clarisse, her best friend, when she finds out they play bass! basically clarisse and her boyfriend - gabriel - have been looking for other people to start a rock band with, and they were thrilled to find a new member so quickly.

lau pretend she doesn't care about the band thing but she has actually asking everyone in her classes if they played an instrument. this was the first time her classmates heard her talking

i haven't figured out how they met yet, but lucie joins clarrisse's band later and that's when lau meets her. she plays the drums

gabriel plays guitar. he is black + of french antillean descent, and he and clarisse met in the same arts high school!

clarisse is of breton descent. she studies art and actually inspired lisa to choose the same path
