warning: unpopular opinions
How wonderful, I can imagine what's going to happen next: "Good morning, Sir Schnauder, do you remember the terrible end your disciple Duke met? Well, it's probably Jurion Patrick's doing. He used the same drug on a friend of ours, could he give us the neutralizer in exchange for this information?"
Two important things happen here: Frame joins the good guys, and Veramonte no longer has to worry about who to ally with because everyone wants to kick his family's ass.
Second option: I've been wondering for a while who would take on the role Rajak Kertia played in Noblesse, the good guy who dies heroically and triggers a narrative evolution. Subin could find herself in serious danger, and Jisuk sacrifices himself to protect her/help her/give her time to escape. Unfortunately, we missed the opportunity to get rid of Mr. Boring Jiwoo, but it wouldn't be bad to find a way to sideline the kids and leave the story in the hands of the real characters, the group of adults.
CHEWED PENCILS - FINAL CHAPTER
And so we come to a close on this chapter of Spamton and Tenna's life (my version anyways, ha ha).
I hope everyone enjoyed this. I certainly did, but acknowledge that this was especially a self-indulgent one.
I want to thank everyone who has every read, kudos'd, commented, commented here, followed me here, reblogged me, sent asks and any and every other form of support! As much as I love writing and creating these versions of the story, it is incredibly motivating that other folks actually care about what I'm writing, too!
Anyways, please enjoy! And I'll be back with more later, stay tuned!
Eleceed chapter 105. some thoughts on the subject
Today I also want to go out on a limb about the final chapter, although I've had an idea in my head for a few chapters and will pull it out at the end... There's an analysis of the alliances—which leaves us with a significant cliffhanger—where it clearly states what has only been hinted at until now: the top 10 had created a fragile balance based on fear, not power (as they led everyone to believe), and now that Kayden has revealed the full extent of his abilities, the situation can no longer remain stagnant. That Veramonte wants to ally with Kayden doesn't surprise me: after the fight between Jiwoo and Jurion, Kayden himself didn't go crazy, he proved reasonable, and he didn't become relentless. Veramonte isn't stupid, and he's understood that by behaving properly, he can establish a dialogue and, if not a full-blown alliance, at least a lack of belligerence. I think the same will happen with what remains of Frame: when Andrei was defeated, Supri and Shnauder took the blow well. They realized that having a loose cannon in their alliance was causing more damage than Andrei's death itself. Ironically, Frame could now actually establish a dialogue with Kayden. When Jiwoo fought Duke, he eventually left the arena with Guestella in a hurry, and we don't know if things would have really gone badly for him. Personally, I think things could have been resolved much more civilly than one might imagine. Just think of Andrei's disciple, ready to be killed, who is told, "That power isn't mine, why would I want it?" This is the antithesis of Mioru and Greg's thinking, who instead try to grab everything.
Garas is the biggest unknown. From what little we've learned, does his powers include puppeteering? If so, I expect to find Iodore acting like a remote-controlled puppet. Perhaps there'll be a conflict because he's trying to rebel against the controls when he's sent to fight Guestella...? Something will definitely happen, because Garas clearly has goals on Guestella and Mioru. Supri is safe because she's aged in the meantime. LOL, but we don't know what her power is! Neither she nor her disciple have ever lifted a finger, so that's another big unknown. The only certainty is that Jurion will try to join forces with anyone who wants to oppose Kayden. At this point, I fear that the good and reasonable character who must die to advance the plot will be Veramonte. Unpopular opinion: At this point, who cares about Jiwoo the Ranker? The story could only move forward with the current top 10—or, to be precise, top 9—and leave aside the loser kid who fights against life's adversities and always wins. He's become boring and annoying.
Veramonte is going to regret this, I'll bet on it
