La Piazza at Okada Manila Offers an Authentic Italian Culinary Experience
Okada Manila continues to be one of the best places for foodies to explore. With so many signature restaurants offering five-star dining experiences, I still haven't tried all of their culinary hotspots up to now. On my last visit, I went on a delicious journey to Japan at Enbu. This time, I'm going on an Italian adventure at La Piazza Ristorante Italiano, Okada Manila's signature Italian restaurant.
La Piazza serves as Okada Manila’s gateway to Italy—the birthplace of rich artistic and architectural heritage as well as sumptuous regional cuisines. The Hungry Kat was invited back to Okada Manila to try the some of the authentic Italian dishes at La Piazza. You can find it at the upper ground floor of the Crystal Corridor Pearl Wing, just near where Medley Buffet is located.
La Piazza is open from Wednesdays to Mondays from 5:00pm to 11:00pm. Several dining areas with exquisite interiors provide options for various occasions. Accentuated with barrel tables and an inviting bar counter, the Trattoria offers a relaxed and casual setting, ideal for enjoying appetizers, freshly made focaccia, pizza, and a drink in hand.
A few steps away is the luxurious Ristorante, elegantly designed with sophisticated accents, crystal chandeliers, and plush seating. With an unobstructed view of The Fountain, guests can leisurely savor layers of fine Italian flavors as they enjoy antipasti, pasta, steak, and seafood dishes, plus desserts perfectly complemented by the restaurant’s selection of grappa.
Wine connoisseurs will also appreciate La Piazza’s collection of the most premium and sought-after wines. Each bottle is carefully selected, preserved, and displayed in the restaurant’s exclusive wine cellar. They also have a private Chef's Table where you can celebrate a romantic occasion with your significant other.
As for our small group of friends, we were seated at one of their elegant private dining rooms which can cater from 10 up to 22 guests.
We ordered some refreshing beverages like the Okada Blend Iced Tea Cooler Punch (P230) made with English breakfast tea, mango juice, peach syrup, and chia seeds.
For a more colorful drink, try one of La Piazza's Signature Mocktails like the Rosy Cheeks (P250) with its combination of banana syrup, fresh bananas, and grenadine.
An even more exciting option would be one of La Piazza's Signature Cocktails like the Sundowner (P520). This one comes with its enticing blend of rum, black tea, peach liqueur, mango juice, lemon juice, passion fruit syrup, and aquafaba.
Complimentary breads are served on each table together with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. These are really good and you can ask for more if you wish.
We started with some Antipasti or appetizers like the Caesar Salad (P700). This is a beautiful and delicious salad that combines Romaine lettuce, anchovy dressing, Parmesan flakes and cured egg yolks.
The Affettati E Formaggi (P1050) is also a great starter with its exciting platter of Italian cold cuts, cheese, homemade Giardiniera, nuts, and dried fruits.
There are several soups dishes to choose from which are all quite rich and enticing. I ordered the Crema Di Funghi (P500) which is a mushroom soup that comes with a very aromatic and flavorful black truffle paste.
You can also choose the Zuppa Di Pesce (P750) or seafood soup with tomato fish broth, prawn, mussel, clam, fish fillet, and scallop.
An authentic Italian restaurant is not complete without pizza so I'm happy to discover that La Piazza offers some of the best pizza in the city. Their Quattro Formaggi (P820) is a combination of four types of cheeses including mozzarella, fontina, talegglo, and gorgonzola.
Of course, they also have pasta like the popular Carbonara (P900) which has spaghetti prepared with guanciale, pecorino, egg yolk, and black pepper.
La Piazza also serves some regional Italian dishes. They offer pasta from Northern Italy like the Trofie Al Pesto (P700) using handcrafted truffle pasta mixed with kale pesto, potatoes, French beans, and pecorino.
Now let's try some of the main courses. The Spigola (P2750) is a very lovely seafood dish that uses Barramundi fillet with creamy sauce. It's a simple dish but I really loved its texture and flavor.
Here is the main attraction at La Piazza, the majestic Bistecca (P13700). This gigantic tomahawk steak has 1.2 kilograms of 150-days grain fed Australian Black Tide Angus Beef cooked perfectly medium rare. This steak can serve an entire table so we were really happy to indulge in this gorgeous cut.
They also have the 120-days grain fed Australian Mulwarra Black Angus Ribeye (P4700) which comes with 400 grams of tender steak. The ribeye actually has a little more flavor than the tomahawk so this is my favorite steak.
For sides, I really loved the Roasted Vegetables (P230) and the Mashed Potatoes (P250) that accompanied our main courses. We were really all stuffed and satisfied with these generous portions of premium steaks.
For dessert, La Piazza offers their signature Tiramisu (P570) which is honestly one of the best ones I have ever had in Manila. This comes with mascarpone, ladyfinger, espresso, and cocoa powder.
You can also have some coffee to finish your dinner. I've never seen so many premium steaks in one table so we were all really happy with our Italian adventure.
