In Loyalty, White tells Patton that she can teach him how to (implied) use his voice to harm Sadie. While obviously he isn't the type to do that intentionally, I am curious on what that like. Means? If you're alright with that! (Combined with the FFF AU Greta mentioning that Patton could possibly be the most OP character in the game, have we seen the full extent of what Patton can do yet?)
We see a little bit of it in Double, - but picture it like holding on to someone by the wrist who is struggling. Patton "holds" the target "in place" ie in his will.
he can hold you tight enough you can't struggle, usually, and he usually does. the less you can struggle, the less patton's powers hurt you. before he was trained, it always hurt at least a little
but now, he has enough to control to let the (i keep wanting to use the word 'prey' which is not how patton usually views it but it is what siren's powers are technically for) target struggle, and can do it in such a way where it hurts on purpose
you can see this really early on too, with Roman's reactions to Patton in the main story vs Sadies description of his powers in Loyalty. Roman gets twinges of pain from Patton compelling him, because he's never going to be very resistant to anything Patton asks of him, magical or not. other people describe it as things like 'a noose on a leash' or 'being cattleprodded' because they really DONT want to listen to patton, and are struggling a lot, and Patton doesnt know how to 'let go' without just cancelling out the previous order with another
by the time of Double, the only fae in the forest strong enough to really, properly throw Patton off completely (if the Doppelganger hadnt been screaming with his daughters voice, Patton could have overpowered it eventually) is Virgil, and it generally takes him a couple of minutes, which considering Virgil is Like That, 2 minutes of control over him from someone who wasn't our dear angel patton could be used to devastating effect. most actual sirens dont train their voices this thoroughly but Patton's a control freak and wants to be Perfect at it
