Habitare 2013 convention of design and interiors exhibited a variety of quite interesting stuff. The lack of design and technology that is available was a bit too much for me. Don't get me wrong there was also a 3D-printer printing small scale models, but for me that kind of technology is already here and is not, for me, the newest available innovation. How ever I was thrilled to see that the branch of sound muffling or reduction had new ideas, as shown on the pictures. Multiple brands had aesthetic designs and colors in their products which made me pleased to see the vast variety of sound reduction in spaces. I especially liked the triangular shaped wall of inwards and outwards bulking sections that formed the whole wall, the material was also ecological, fabric. But I have to wonder, are we educating architects that have no conceptual thinking about the sound in space. I mean if the architects would focus on these things, there wouldn't be no need for sound muffling in the space, if the space has been designed acoustically well. Sure they work as decorative objects as well, but this is a small thing that could be fixed easily with  a professional attitude.

What comes to the design solutions of Rei design, the manufacturer of self heating towel racks, innovation wasn't there, only change had been the amount of colors in their stock, not that special I'd say.

I enjoyed the chairs and seats, some young designers had made for a competition. I especially liked the form and texture in the "Lankku - by Sanelma Hihnala" (the second picture of the seats) and the "Wowen wood - by Juan Cappa"(the first picture of the seats) both young designers, and already making really cool and sustainable design. What can I say, the convention was over all a good show, but I really didn't see any brand new Ideas and innovation from the big companies and trademarks, but the best things to watch and experience came from the young independent designers and artists.
