Includes comparisons and references to wakfu, dofus and bestiale. It also contains critical content, so please do not read it if you do not tolerate or dislike criticism
The art style is unique and cute. It is somewhere between a picture book and an animation!
I really thought "Ah, another story about kidnapping a child" at the beginning of the book, but I found that krosmoz's characters and stories are too similar in development and setting. I guess the author has a proclivity for this kind of thing, but it seems like he just changes the appearance of the characters and repeats the same story over and over again
I have a real personal problem with old people lol, so some scenes were tough to watch in that sense, like some of the vulgar scenes. It's not that I dislike vulgarity, I just don't find it compatible with Ankama's vulgar humor. In that sense, Bestiale had no vulgar scenes, which is unusual for Ankama
I can kind of see why people who are dissatisfied with the recent Ankama and the type of people who like krosmoz's worldview and lore would like this. If kerubim's was a rough description of the world and races, this is more like a wakfu-like adventure without the walking around. The pacing of how the episodes progress is moderate. And the whole thing is geared towards adults, so I guess it suits the age range of the main wakfu fans today
The character Cire momore itself (mainly the character design) is really cool and I like it, but was it necessary? I wondered. It seems to me that they wanted to make this story a tragedy, so they introduced him. ankama had been pushing him since before Lance dur aired, so I thought he was a more important standing character, but it just seemed like a distraction- BUT then I understood why he was needed in the last episode. Because I understood that he was, in other words, to make it a chain of revenge as a present to Lance dur and because he was the candle of the birthday cake, so it was that visual and the double meaning of the death nuance. That's why I personally think...hmmm, the webtoon on the identity of Cire momore was a snakebait...? I'm not complaining about the artist, but I'm just saying that it could have been left as a mystery. But they probably wanted to create a dark fantasy. I had read the webtoon first, but even if I had seen the show first, I didn't think I would care about his origins (Well, maybe I think that simply because I don't really like tragic villains). I think the reference to Belladona was more necessary
It was a shame, that Lance dur's team had friends of a species that was not merely human, but they died and ended up with a team that was only human in appearance. It would be a shame to end this potential with, "Well, you put out other races in the mob, so why not?" That could have differentiated them from the main members of dofus and wakfu, couldn't it? I thought it was a good idea. In that sense, it was probably a good idea to limit the number of classes that appeared, even though bestiale's osamodas are also mostly human (Well, since this is a story about giving death as a hero, so, it might be a meaningless comment)
I honestly believe that Ankama has put a lot of effort into this work, as Bestiale does not compare to Lance dur in terms of advertising, in-game, webtoon, and other content richness and linkage
Conclusion: I get why lance dur fits the age group of wakfu's main fans now and why they admire it and why it's popular, and I understand the amount of effort put into the animation! and I agree it's great, it just wasn't for me. I just didn't have characters I wanted to root for, (I liked Cire momore and Cadence, but that was mainly just because of their looks), Bestiale was more to my taste
Cire Momore is tragic, I have no other words to describe this story. Gustave's descent into hell, the fact that it's not Gustave the knight but Lysmee. The queen is hateful and abusive, yet she felt an unhealthy love that ultimately destroyed her. Separating her from what could have been important to her. She even kills her dog. And she ends up the same way as her nickname, if that's not ironic!
