I know I make this post like every few months but it continues to blow my mind how much of an impact crops that originated in the Americas have had on global cuisines. All the global foods that incorporate potatoes, beans*, tomatoes, peanuts, chocolate, corn, squash**, avocados, cassava, pineapple, sweet potatoes, and peppers*** have the indigenous peoples of the Americas to thank for their existence. if you like these foods and you’re not indigenous american then you’re so lucky to live post-transatlantic exchange!!! this post is in no way an exhaustive list btw there are SO many crops that were originally cultivated in the americas. thank you ancient and prehistoric indigenous agriculturalists

i think a lot of people even in trans-accepting circles have picked up a point of view that goes "you can change your gender and that's fine/good/great but sex is immutable, you'll always be [birth sex] and you just have to accept it—that even if you transition to the full extent of social and medical possibility, you'll still be a female man or a male woman."
