Out of all the rwby women I feel like yang has the most canonical on screen genderisms going on especially with her presentation but it is hardly accepted/actively hated on in the fandoms decade long existence compared to the others and I just wonder why fandom is so resistant with yang of all characters
I always say Yang being the least-baked character at the beginning was a blessing and a curse. It let the character develop more organically, but it also meant that from the Yellow Trailer until V2 when she gets any real focus was a long time for an overactive, parasocial, weeb/gamer-skewed fan base to map what they wanted onto her. Some folks really dug in on their idea of Yang when she was an empty vessel and a facade, and everything the contrary is seen as a retcon and not the planned deconstruction of that projection (“more than meets the eye”).
